I have been wanting to move closer to family for a long time. We sold our home the end of 2006 and rented a great apartment for 6 months, waiting for jobs to line up in state we want to move. Now 1 and 1/2 years later we are still living in this great apartment and no jobs have been found, looking long distance.

My hubby is in a job that has not been the best due to all the company changes
and he has been praying for the LORD to lead him what we should do. He finally has gotten signs that we are to make the move and everything will fall into place when we get there. ( one sign was a rainbow on a cloudy day one morning when hubby was driving to work and praying for a sign)

Our children are grown and we can afford several months with no job. I am flying out in a week to go apartment/townhouse shopping and then hubby will put his notice in and we will step out of the boat and believe the LORD will provide for us a job that meets our needs.

I would rather live near family and not have as much, than live far away and have no one to share with.

Please give me some thoughts and please keep us in your prayers. so far everything has been falling into please. i even found reasonable health insurance.

Any and all words of wisdom is welcome.

:preachI took a "step out of the boat" thinking I would find my dream job when I quit one job without having another job lined up. Even though I prayed about quitting I heard exactly what I wanted to hear so I am suggesting that you pray without ceasing and make sure what you hear is from the Holy Spirit. The good Lord eventually placed me where He wanted me but because of my pride leading me (and not the Holy Spirit) I was out of my chosen field for 6 months. I had no job for 4 of those months and eventually took a job stocking grocery shelves for the last 2 months until my current position opened. It was a very humbling experience but God was faithful to His promise of never forsaking or leaving us and He saw me through. Point being, make sure you are following God's will and not your own!:preach

Awesome. My hubby and I did this just about a year ago. Stressful? yes. Worth it? Absolutely.

Talk about an experience of putting all your eggs in the Lords basket! I second the praying without ceasing :pray

I believe that you can't go wrong by praying and following where the Lord leads you. There may be bumps along the way, but have faith He is guiding you where you should be. This sounds very exciting for you guys, I pray that you are able to enjoy the change. He keeps watch over you no matter where He leads you.
My husband was led away from his job this past January. He was traveling quite a ways to work each day. He took a new job that requires a lot of travel, but he gets paid to travel and gas/car expenses are paid. When we realized in March or so where gas was headed, we thought, wow, we would be in serious trouble if he had not left that other job. God knows what He is doing, even when we don't!
Good luck to you guys!! :pray

Thanks for all the input , we are both trying to pull closer to the LORD as we prepare for this adventure. Please keep me in your prayers as I fly up next week to apartment hunt. Got a good lead today . It's when the doors close and things don't line up that makes me step back and think maybe this isn't what GOD wants. :scratch
