I have to tell you all that I have the GREATEST Husband in the world. Yesterday my mother voiced her disapproval in our choice to home school.:scratch She also told me that my DH parents do not approve as well. I am very glad to say God was in total control of my voice and reaction and I did not go off on her.:hat I was able to tell her my opinion in a respectful manner. I came home and told my DH and he was very upset. Today he has been very sarcastic about the whole thing. Talking about how stupid we are.:heh:ohno I am so grateful we are in agreement on this matter. He has been so encouraging, and uplifting. Maybe a bit rotten,:heh but for the right reasons. She did call and apologize this morning. I respect her concerns even if they are wrong. She as my DS's grandparent has a right to express her concerns. We has his parents, we would love there blessing, but do not require there permission. She agreed to that. I love my Mom dearly but we don't see eye to eye on much anymore. Please pray that we can work through this. (And that DH behaves.)

My father strongly objected when I told him we were going to homeschool...he thought it was a form of "abuse." What worked for me was to involve him in the process, telling him that I needed him to teach them some things (like gardening, hunting and fishing, carpentry, home repairs, etc.) He no longer objects and loves to call on a whim and have the children come down so they can "learn."

I too have had the blessing of my husband's support. When we started, we said, "we're going to try this for a year." Each year, we would say "we had so much fun, we're going to do it again!" Now everyone is used to it and our parents are proud that we've conducted their grandchildren's schooling and their grandchildren are "normal" and not "weird."

:hug and blessings

My Mom thinks my son is to sheltered. She doesn't think he can function in the "Real World". I disagree. Right now he is making a cake for the 4-H fair tomorrow. He is making it all by himself. I will not help him, he gets judged on his work not mine. He has already made a few cakes they are delicious. At least he'll eat well while he isn't functioning well in the real world.:pound
He has so many traits of my husband, shy, doesn't like crowds, read late, still can't spell. She said I am giving DS, DH's problems.:twitch I really feel bad for our parents. I wish I could make them feel better about this. They are being feed by so many people who are anti home school. I can't seem to help her yet. It think that time will heal this. I just have to deal with it till then.

To update my DS who can't function in the real world. His cake got a blue ribbon at the fair. That meant he would sell his cake at the cake auction. He walked his cake in front of maybe 100 people, they were on TV(local cable I think), and he didn't choke. He was a little nervous but he did it and did it well. Mom and Dad bought the cake for 250.00. They are bringing it up to share with everyone tonight. I'll let you know the effects from eating such a "rich cake". I was so proud of him. He was awesome last night. :hat to him I was so glad that they were there to see him do so well. I think this will cure it self with proof.
