Alright Betty.
Watching mallets (Pronounced malleys -go figure the French) and compound steam are really cool. If you can find out, did he get a Con-Cor or splurge for brass? I imagine his track curves must stay with a 15" radius or derail city.
24" are better for 8 - 10 coupled (that's why I like N scale - more track in less space).
I would love to get a 4-8-4 Potomac (Western Md RR) but $$$$ for brass.
Even a 4-6-6-4 Challenger in plastic is expensive.
Icebear:
I've been doing sceanery for trains, 40k, LOTR, 15mm, MicroArmour for years.
We use Heroscape for BattleTech -hexes already there.
Friends and family joke the way I see creation - God molded this hill in clay shale, added a few Woodland Sceanics trees, a little ground foam ...
Viola! A New Earth! or middle earth, or golan desert....
Now if I could just model water like God. Envirotex has too many fumes.

Hubby will have to check. He has his train stuff still in a box. We moved here 3 months ago and he is going to go to a local train show to get ideas about building a layout.
I will try to find out the answer to your question.

Great.
If I could afford it, I'd stay all Kato and Microtrains. Peco is my preferred track. Atlas is second.

been into trains since I was a kid, anything to do with trains, if driving, I hear the horn or see the crossbucks start to flash will pull over and wait, mainly looking at the lead engine, all you see now in either coal, double stack or auto carriers, very few frieghts! my in laws tolerant me in this, everytime we have a get together, I mention that we could all watch train video's instead of sports, have a HO set up upstairs, I model the Missouri Pacific, it is the line that ran thru my hometown, in Ark. great hobby!!

Coming in late. I do streetcars in O-scale. No home layout. I tote my cars off to a club layout.

JSZ,
Traction is always cool! Do you run off the catenary, third rail, or just railhead?
We used to have a major trolley line -Hershey Transit Co, that ran through Dauphin, Lebanon counties. They had some really unique motorcars, but most were feightcar type for collecting milk.
These then connected with local railroads including the narrow gauge Mt Gretna RR which ran to a resort-type place. The Playhouse still has shows.

Strictly streetcars running off the overhead wire.
I'm familiar with Hershey Transit. It had some fine looking Brill semi-convertible cars. It would be easy to kit-bash an old Copetown Brill kit into one. If you could find the Copetown kit that is!

Check out MicroMark. They have alot of model rr stuff.
I suspect you may need to build your own. Kitbashing is always fun. My opinion, if you are doing trolleys it has to be o-scale, excellent balance of detail and scenery.
I plan to add a couple RDCs to my n-scale collection. I just happened to catch the last Pottsville-Reading run at Hamburg PA (about 1981). Cool Photo.

I always wanted to have a model trainset. But I'm not wealthy :( lol (it's ridiculous what some of these parts cost)
And even if I did, I never really had the space anywhere to use.
I was happy watching Thomas the Tank Engine when I was a kid, that would give me my Model Railroad fix for the week :)
