View Full Version : Good movies for a baby?

Hey all, just wondering if other fathers could help a first timer out. I have a six month old baby girl (well she turns six months in 9 days :p) and while we have absolute bucket loads of books to read to her we don't really have any good videos for her when we just want to have a nice lounging day.

Any suggestions?

None!!! Do not put the baby in front of the tv!!!!!!! Put her down for a nap if you need quiet time... but don't use it as a babysitter..Face it... your days of lounging are pretty much over...LOL

Your baby should not even step in front of the TV at that age, not even educational stuff. I cannot remember specifically, but I have heard about several studies that conclusively state that putting a child in front of a TV before a certain age (2-3 ish?) is bad for his or her development. :)

I'm not talking about just plopping her infront of it, I'm talking about for times when the family is already sitting around the TV relaxing and we don't want to lock her up in her play pen alone.

sorry, I agree about no tv under the age of 12 months at least. Many studies have concluded that it interferes with proper development. We have 2 older kids and one that is quite a bit younger and it can be very hard...we did videos after putting her to sleep for the night or nap times.

Try to avoid videos/tv at a young age.

If you want to watch a movie then just play with her on the floor while you are watching it or even hold her.. you don't have to put her in the playpen... but I would say wait until naptime if you can..... At this age they need parent involvement..shoot they need it at every age

Keep it to one viewing (15 or 30 mts).

She will ignore it. Put on some music for her instead. It charges her brain and holds her attention better :nod

If you feel you MUST get something, Baby Einstien dvd's are okay, but again, she will just ignore it.

put her on her tummy on the floor so she can exercise while rocking out to mozart :thumb
