I am not trying to rain on your parade here, but I was wondering if there is any check from your Spirit while you watch these men fight themselves bloody and sometimes unconcious for money and earthly glory. Honestly I am not trying to come off as condemning. I have allways wondered why some people (christians) watch this stuff. What do they enjoy about it? Is it bloodlust?

Scripturally, where do sports, in general, fall? The UFC is nothing more than a variation of western-style boxing. Now, the first UFC's were fairly brutal. However, over time, they have become more of a competition. There are far more rules than when the UFC began. I am a judo player. I have been since 1980. I also know a fair amount of jujitsu, since judo was developed from jujitsu. At my dojo, we have guys that train for UFC-style fighting. It is called MMA(mixed martial arts). These guys train as hard as any martial artist. They have to be skilled in striking techniques and ground-fighting techniques. They come to judo and jujitsu class to work on their ground game and their submission skills. They work out with a former professional boxer to hone their striking skills. They work with the karate guys to learn kicks. If I was twenty years younger, I would probably give it a go. However, I'm 41 years old and that is too old to be in the ring trading punches and kicks with guys half my age. I still do my judo to try and stay in shape. Spiritually, I've never felt convicted about participating in the martial arts. I guess it is a matter of personal convictions on this subject.

Thanks all, I appreciate your input. While I still do not agree with it, I can more clearly see the "science" behind it.

Heh, I can see what your getting at. I think for some, it may be a blood lust issue. No denying that. Forme, I watch it to learn. Im involved in MMA and so I like to watch the best fight, and try and learn something from them. UFC and MMA in general is also known for its respect. The fighteres have tons of respect for eachother, which is something you dont see in alot of other sports.
That being said, it is just a sport. MMA fighters have to be at the top in terms of physical conditioning. I think fighters are in the best shape compared to any other sport.
