My daughter is entering the 7th grade this year and we almost have our English studies together.
We are using write shop for writing but I would really like some suggestions as to a literature program. I am looking for a book study to fine tune her reading and comprehension abilities.
Do any of you know of a good program for this?

Have you looked at Progeny Press. That's all they do are literal book studies.

I found them after I posted this.
Have you ever used them? If so how did you like their program?

Yes, I have used them, but it's been a while. They are actually pretty good. They have sample lessons online, so you can look at them and see what you think. They have them that are age appropriate. They aren't meant to be done quickly, but done over 8 - 12 weeks, depending on the age and the study you are doing.

There's also Total Language Plus. http://www.totallanguageplus.com/
I've never used their guides, but I know a lot of people like them. They're quite a bit different from Progeny.

we have used TLP in the past and did well. But with the write shop i needed something a bit lighter.

Those are the only two I'm aware of. I wouldn't say that Progeny Press is all that light, though. You would have to compare it to TLP.

If you want something lighter than Progeny Press, I have another resource for you.
It's called "150 Great Books." It has summaries of 150 'great books' plus indicates the difficulty level of the books. For each book, there are two pages of questions: one page of multiple choice or T/F or fill in the blank, and a second page of questions requiring answers of 1-3 sentences, plus an essay question.
My daughter prefers these to Progeny Press, because she feels that Progeny Press "spoils the book" because it forces her to stop every few chapters.
