Of his Dominion Trilogy. Book two will be titled "Fearless". Book three is not titled at the moment.
Don't want to give too much of the plot away, however, the main character wakes up one morning to find his mind, spirit and soul has been transferred into another body. He also has some new skills. However, he has an assassin on his tail and is trying to figure out just what the heck is going on.
Stars off with a bang and never stops. The horrible truth is revealed to him at the end of the book. I won't give it away, however, will tell you that the plot involves the following:
“The Bringer” - A person who was prophesied over 7,000 years ago and is one day to come into the world and wield tremendous power.
“The Dominion Stone” - Quite possibly the oldest artifact on earth and not from earth. It contains the prophecy regarding “The Bringer”.
“Rings of Dominion” - As old or older than the “Dominion Stone”. They were once worn by a race of beings who fought a war throughout the universe.
The “Loci” (LOW-kiy) - People like the main character who find themselves “shifted” out of their own bodies and wearing strange rings they cannot remove except in death.
“The Seal of Dominion” - Main ring worn by the being who was the leader of one of the sides in the war which raged in the cosmos from the dawn of time.
“The Secretum” (SEC-reh-tuhm) - Ancient order of six individuals at any given time in history. Predates recorded history and not much is known about the members in the time frame of the book or what their agenda is.
“The Thresher” - The person the “Dominion Stone” mentions in the prophecy regarding “The Bringer”. His role is not yet known. Also, the street name of an assassin of unusual ability and a “ring” wearer.
The novel ends with a decision made by “The Bringer” which was totally unexpected. Free will. Perhaps someone other than “The Secretum” is actually the one in control of events? I think this is the case and “The Bringer” cannot be manipulated to start this ancient war all over again......but then is that the goal of “The Secretum” or was it the goal of only one man? We’ll have to wait on the second book in the trilogy “Fearless” to see what happens.
The author promises answers to all the questions in book two, “Fearless”.....though I already suspect some of them. However, I think this author will continue to surprise me and everyone else who reads his books.
The rough draft of “Fearless” has been completed and was delivered to the publisher at the beginning of this month. I can’t wait until they get it out so I can read it.
Robin Parrish pursued his writing through the Internet. He created a site called “Infuze” where he created a blog where his Christian faith and his writing merged. He wanted to do a serialized story with chapters done every two weeks. Bethany House publishers saw this and contracted with him for that first serialized story which turned into “Relentless” and contracted for two sequels to form a trilogy. Looks like the books are scheduled for the summers of 2006 (Relentless), 2007 (Fearless) and the final book in 2008.
I can’t wait. Can you tell I loved this book? It’s provocative and intriguing not only from a Christian viewpoint, but also from a reader’s viewpoint and from a writer’s viewpoint. I’m interested where he’s going to go with this story. My mind has already created about a dozen plots for it. Somehow I think he’ll still end up surprising me.
