Patricia McKeever does not like to be photographed. She does not like people to know where she lives and prefers to communicate with the outside world by letter or e-mail.

But, from the security of her home, the 58-year-old former secondary school teacher has co-ordinated a relentless campaign to name and shame gay Roman Catholic priests.

Her newsletter , Catholic Truth, has so far confronted up to a dozen priests about their alleged homosexuality and has named at least four as being gay or allegedly associating with gay men.

Ms McKeever, who intends to expose all priests “unconscionably living a double life”, told The Times in a telephone interview that she had been forced to take action because of an “unprecedented moral crisis” in the Catholic Church”. She was not prepared to have her photograph taken. She said: “The Church has always taught that homosexuality is contrary to its teachings. Homosexual priests do not believe in the Catholic faith any more so they shouldn’t be in the Church.

“I would prefer the bishops to tackle this but, because they are not doing that, we feel it is our duty to let fellow Catholics know what is going on.”

Because nothing says good Christian values like shaming and humilating men of God, and then not having the nerve to show your face.

If she had the honor to atleast show herself I would write her off as a woman abit too focused on the "don'ts" of the word, but this is just cowardly.

Those priests will face their judgment in time. There's no honor in recklessly attacking those under vague suspicion. Quite frankly, she sounds obsessive and a little bit crazy.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who sees this.

I'm sure this woman THINKS she's doing good, but in all, it's only harming how Christians look to the public.

Maybe someone should have done something before the homosexual priests molested all those boys. Hurting children is not a light matter.

Mar 9:42**Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he was thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.

1) to put a stumbling block or impediment in the way, upon which another may trip and fall, metaph. to offend

a) to entice to sin

b) to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and obey

1) to cause to fall away

2) to be offended in one, i.e. to see in another what I disapprove of and what hinders me from acknowledging his authority

The first cases to earn widespread publicity involved abuse of [pre-pubescent children. The "overwhelming majority" of the abused children were male.

There had long been charges that a significant minority of the clergy had been practicing such behavior for decades, alleging that a "homosexual collective" within the priesthood viewed child sex abuse as a "religious rite" and "rite of passage" for altar boys and young priests While the reported sexual abuse dates primarily from the 1960s to 1980s some cases occurred in the 1990s and sexual abuse has also happened in past centuries: it was the topic of Pope Benedict XIV's apostolic constitution Sacramentum Poenitentiae in 1741.

Yes, those events were horrid and the ones responsible should be punished.

What did that have to do with this? This isn't even "outting" real gays, simply wild accusations with an anonymous face by a coward. If you want to talk the scandel, talk about how the Vatican is still covering for the pedophiles.

Well, I'd like to know how this lady "knows" these priests are gay. Does she wear a "gay detector" on a chain around here neck...? She sounds a bit inbalanced to me.

I'd like to know too. The only way I could think of would be to go around a question people. I would have a hard time being snoopy. If they are not pedophiles she should leave them alone because they took a vow of celibacy and will have to answer to God. It's not her place to judge, especially if she doesn't have absolute proof. I don't think these priests should be in parishes though because being gay is wrong and it would be setting bad examples.
