This is another Christian writer who I will be purchasing any future books he writes. I'm also gonna check to see if he has any others already out there.
He grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go until the end. I literally couldn't put the book down.
As you probably know the "comes a horseman" refers to the anti-christ....however, is it the real anti-christ or an imposter? Is he fulfilling prophecy or making it happen? A group founded in secrecy over 1,000 years ago called the Watchers are asking the same questions. Their task has been to "watch" for THE anti-christ when he comes and then turn over all their wealth and political power to him so he can have a one world government. However, in the past, those men claiming to be the anti-christ who ended up being imposters were totally wiped off the face of the earth including their entire families.
Enter the 21st century. A killer is on the loose in America. He is not your average serial killer. He kills with axes and wolf/dog hybrids. He's part of an ancient Norse tribe the Watchers protected from Christian missionaries. His family lineage has been to train in the arts and skills of the assassin and to serve the Watchers to wipe out any fake anti-christs and to assist the real anti-christ when he appears.
Two FBI agents are the main characters in this book besides the above. One is a profiler who is having a crisis of faith because his wife was killed by a drunk driver 18 months previously. He has a son, Zach, who keeps him hanging on.....barely.
The other FBI agent is a female kick butt type who has helped developed new computerized and virtual reality crime scene investigation.
They call this serial killer the Pelletier killer based on the fact that a man named Pelletier invented the guillutine. As you have probably surmised the victims are decapitated.
However, what links the victims together? The serial killer has killed both men and women. There's no apparent connection until the profiler notices what others have missed. They have all had near death experiences and claim to have been to hell. This leads them to a Catholic priest in NY. From there things get pretty exciting and they end up at the Vatican in the Secret Archives. From there it's on to Israel for the culmination and climactic ending of the book.
I'd sure recommend it to anyone. I give it five stars.
