Yesterday as my 9yo daughter was on her way to the ice cream truck she was struck by a speeding car.
Her only injury was a scraped elbow.
Because I saw it happen, I'm still sort of at a loss for words, every mother's nightmare.
Thank You dear God for protecting her and seeing her safely through! :pray

Praise God!! What in the world happened that made the speeding car not hurt her? Give us the details!!
Hubby and I were on opposite sides of the street when it happened. It was one of those instances where you can see what is going to happen but you are too far away to stop it.
It looked like DD tried to hop out of the way. The car hit her mid thigh and tossed her up and to the side, out of the way of the car. Just as we got to her, she stood up and said "I'm okay". She was awfully shaky but did appear okay.
It was a young girl and her boyfriend driving the car. She got out and asked if DD was okay. I asked her "why in the world were you going so fast"? She said "I'm sorry, I was in a hurry". I wanted to yell at her so badly, there were signs, she was passing an ice cream truck with approx. 10 kids standing beside it on a residential street with a 25mph speed limit.
I didn't yell though because I kept getting the impression that I needed to be kind to her. When I left to follow DD in the ambulance (a precaution) the girl was sitting in her car sobbing and a police officer was talking to her. My brother in law was watching our two other children while we were gone. He said that both the girl and her boyfriend came to the door crying and apologizing. He asked them to come back later to apologize to our daughter.
Unfortunately, they didn't. So I said a prayer for her instead. She was unable to drive because she was so upset and I didn't want her to worry so badly. Don't get me wrong, I wanted her to carry a little bit of fear, enought to keep her driving safely. I just don't want her imagination to get the best of her.
I had trouble driving yesterday. I kept having flashes of kids running into the road. I probably annoyed a few people with my slower speed when I was in "Kid Zones".
It was, at least to hubby and I, a miracle that she was completely unharmed. I want to make sure that I use what happened and apply it to keep other children safe. If I'm going slower than average, I at least know that the people behind me can't speed.
And anytime I hear someone say they are in a hurry, I'll have a little story to tell them.

And I believe I will remember this story for myself also. :)
God has more work for dd here on earth its plain to see. Its amazing she is still here. What a miracle.:)
I think you did good in being kind to the girl and boy. You just never know what could be going on in their lives.
God Bless you and I'm glad dd is fine.

God's was definitely protecting your daughter, and hopefully, your kindness to the driver will somehow, someway lead her to Christ! (or at least she'll hopefully slow down now).
