Here's another good prophecy one :nod

Nightmare #97

I was standing on the corner when I heard my bulldog bark
I looked up into the sky, I saw lights moving through the dark
They were coming down from Heaven, each one was brighter than a star
and I said to my bulldog I wonder what they are

I couldn't run, I could not swallow, I could only shake with fear
They were coming toward me, and they were getting near
I heard people screaming around me in the darkness of that night
Then I fell in silence, I was blinded by the light

I felt my body drop off me like an old black overcoat
I heard my bulldog howl, and I began to float
Now as that light came down around me well I could not see a thing
but I could feel a Presence and I heard Voices begin to sing

Tell you what, how can I tell you what happened
I don't know what happened
I was just standing there with my bulldog and I saw this light in the sky
Ok i'll tell you i'll try to tell you

The next thing i remember, well someone grabbed my hand
I felt my spirit flying far above the land
No no no i was flying whooo

I was standing at the gates of Heaven
When a hand reached out to touch my head
Then I fell through a hole in Heaven
I landed back in my bed

I started weeping, I felt so lonely and my soul began to scream
Had it just been my imagination
Well it seemed so much more real than a dream

I couldn't believe it, I was still standing there in bed
With this crazy vision going round and round in my head
I say what was I to think, I mean what was i to do
Oh somebody gotta help me, this can't be real
Watch out

Now if you see me standing on the corner and you hear my bulldog bark
You better look up in the sky in case there's something in the dark
Sometimes I stay here until its morning and I look up in the sky
Because you've got to be ready if you want to see the Light

I'm just standing on the corner looking for something that was
Prophesized by the wise and foretold by the old
Don't be standing in the darkness like a man who's lost his way
Because he let his lamp go out because he wasn't prepared
For the undeniable arrival of the Judgement Day

Here's a (possibly hard) Larry Norman question :scratch

His song "I Love You" that I have a recording of goes like this:

We can be together for now and forever, I love You, I love You.
Hey, can You hear me, I got to have You near me, I love You, I love You.
I was lonely 'til You came along, Now You've got me singing Your love song.

I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You.

Life is a mystery, love is a dancer, I love You, I love You.
I had a question, You brought the answer, I love You, I love You.
Oh, but I need You so, I could never let You go.

I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You.

I was lonely once but then You came along, and I love You
And You gave me love so I wrote down this song, yeah I love You
I want to spend my life with you like the angels on high, hey I love You
You're the morning star, You're the Son in the sky, I love You

But the version I have in another songbook I have is this:

We can be together for now and forever, I love You, I love You
And when I'm prayin' and I hear 'em sayin, I love You, I love You
People all over the world-they're openin' up, they're comin' around
They're sayin'

I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You.

Brother and Sister, Missus and Mister, I love You, I love You
He made me feel it and I can't conceal it, I love You, I love You
Jesus came into the world, to show us the way, to set us all free
And when He died-He was sayin'

I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You, I love You, I love You,
I love You, I love You.

Did Larry put both out on recording? If he did, what album is the second version on?PW, I did a little poking around and it seems the second version is actually a Randy Stonehill reworking of the song and can be found on this album and some other Stonehill compliations.

Randy Stonehill With Larry Norman And White Light - Born Twice (http://direct.crossrhythms.co.uk/cd.php?cd=13332)

And neither of those two should be confused with the secular 60's hit 'I love You' That Larry sang on with his first group 'People' That one was written by Chris White of the Zombies. Here's a video of a very young Larry with People... youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVeuo9Wiv00)

I hope that helps. :)

Thanks very much. That does help. I thought the one on People! was the second version, until I heard it on the YouTube link, even before you posted it. Then I was like, that's not even Christian :twitch

Farout man...I was saved in 1972, out of the hippie stuff, and there was a lack of music! Then I discovered Larry Norman! In 74 I was going to Bible College in Des Moines IA. and Larry came to the State Fairgrounds there for a show. As he was performing, the Grateful Dead roadies were setting up for a show the following night. Their stage was about 100 yards from Norman's, and he suggested to the crowd that we pray for the Dead roadies to come listen to his concert....he lead us in prayer, and about as soon as he said amen, some electrical failure or something caused the Dead roadies to quit setting up, so they wondered over and sat in front of Norman's stage and listened to the rest of the show! I had not thought about that for years, thanks for jogging my memory!

I love Larry Norman too. I lived in S.Cal (Costa Mesa)during the JESUS FREAK movement and went to his concerts and a lot of concerts put on by Calvary Chapel. I was in my early 20s then in the 70s. I loved the CHRISTIAN NITEs at Disneyland too. Got to hear lots of bands and singers there too. One of my favorite bands was "One Truth" and I loved "Chuck Gerard and Love Song". I use to have tons of cassettes of my favorites but I listened to them so much they went to cassette heaven a long time ago....very sad.

I just found a list of others "Barry McGuire, Love Song, Second Chapter of Acts, Servant, Petra, Resurrection Band, Larry Norman, Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, Randy Matthews, AndraƩ Crouch (and the Disciples), and later Keith Green." I did a search and found that Wikapedia has a whole article about the Jesus Freak era. There's also a YOUTUBE site that has Jesus Freak videos from the day! A lot of the comments about the videos and Christians(in the comments section) are pretty bad though.

Thanks for starting the thread! Brought back a lot of good memories!

Off of that, this site http://www.one-way.org/jesusmusic/index.html
has videos, a lot about the artists, clips, and some more through the Yahoo group.

I love the radio station they have there! :nod

Is anyone else familiar with the band, Ark?

(that's one of my favorite Dead eras too.)

I'm a huge Larry Norman fan & still listen to him regularly. He's the one artist I continued listening to throughout my many years as a non-believer. I met him at Greenbelt in the mid 80's and he was very kind and humble. I was a teenager at the time & I remember asking him for his autograph and he politely declined explaining that all glory was to God. I was a little confused at the time but impressed when as an adult I remembered the encounter. Randy Stonehill did sign my album for me but wrote "follow Jesus" under his name.

I was also a fan of many of the artists already mentioned including Rez, Servant, Randy Stonehill, Randy Matthews, Liberation Suite, Jerusalem etc.

To be honest, I have not heard much of his music, but I love his song titled I Wish We'd All Been Ready. I first heard that song in a 70's rapture movie when I was a kid. The movie that I heard it in was either A Thief In The Night or A Distant Thunder, but I can't remember which one.

I also have a CD by Steve Camp (I don't know how many have heard of him) which has a song in which the words and music were written by both him and Larry Norman. It is a song called If I Were a Singer.
