"moved" threads?

I skimmed through this section and the site instructions, but didn't see this question addressed anywhere(?) I see that sometimes threads are moved to categories where they are felt to be more appropriate. But sometimes when I click on a "moved" thread, a box comes up which says I'm not "authorized" to view the thread. Can you clarify that for me, and for other "newbies"? If it's something that comes up often, it might be helpful to explain that somewhere on the site. Thanks!

a thread can be moved to a location some users are not authorized to view
sometimes a link is moved to the mod cave for review and discussion and the link was not disabled.

I don't want to get too "nosey", but can you briefly elaborate generally on what "a location some users are not authorized to view" might be? Would this be only for members who had been on the site for a long time? Or is it sensitive chat that would be deemed disturbing for some members? Or inappropriate? (I would guess though, that any inappropriate threads would simply be deleted from the site). If a link was moved to the mod cave (love that term), might it be reintroduced at some time? Thanks for your help!

some parts of the forum are reserved for moderators only
Other sections of the forum might be closed to members who have abused their privileges in that forum
