I'm looking for a good Bible curriculum for my kids (elementary age). What do you use, and what do you recommend?

One that we have liked is the BJU Bible curriculum. The pages are very interactive - colorful and things to fill in, look up and puzzle out. You can get a teacher guide, but I never did. The workbooks are self-instructing.

For older kids, we've used the Kay Arthur precept studies and I think she has some for younger kids as well. Some kids love them, some hate them - it depends on their learning styles.

We have just started in a Classical school which is 2 days a week for my younger 2 and 2 1/2 for my 8th grader. They use Veritas history cards and Bible cards. There is a song you learn to help you with chronology. For my 2nd grader, we read "Story of the World". Her history cards have Biblical and historical dates mixed in. I really like these cards and the book! Our school uses a lot of songs that really help with memorization. My 5th grader is singing "The son of God goes out to war"--a cool song I didn't know before. My 2nd grader has a journal she writes her Bible verses in. My 8th grader will have a copy book for quotes and Bible verses. I had friends who would use Veritas cards through "Classical Conversations". They would meet 1 day a week to do classes together.

Another option is "Balance the Sword". This company has 2 huge books which take you through the whole Bible. You read the chapter and have fill in the blank questions to answer--through each chapter of the Bible. There are lots of pictures. We did Genesis and Job last year with this book, and read "Adam and His Kin", and "The Great Conflict" by Ethel Barrett--a picture of the war over "mansoul".

I'm going to start a Bible class for 4th through 6th graders, and I plan to take them through the Bible using 24 hours through the Bible with Chuck Missler as a help to me to show them highlights from each book. Help your kids learn Bible verses with lots of songs and motions. Doorposts has an Instruction in Righteousness book that goes through Bible verses and object lessons related to specific areas of sins. They have some cool posters--1 for Bible verses for discipline, and a Blessing chart with Biblical rewards. There are also books that will give you suggestions for celebrating the 7 Biblical feasts as a family. We follow the Christian version of Passover most years, and it is really meaningful to our family.

Youtube and Godtube have music videos and videos of Israel and Biblical places. Just watch out for the comment section for Youtube. The kids and I watched a bunch of videos of India when we did a study of India and Christian persecution there. The rat temple was really disgusting--also watching people swim in the sacred garbage filled Ganges and corral the sacred cows.

Moody Science videos are beautiful and all have spiritual applications.

Enjoy your Bible study!

I know this was posted a while back, but I just found this post.
I have been using this. My 6yr old loves it! I love it too. It's free and it is just straight from the Bible.
God Bless!
