TD Jakes is what is known as a "oneness pentecostal" - meaning he doesn't believe in the Trinity. In my personal opinion, he's one of the most dangerous false teachers out there.

I read that and it clearly says he believes in the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit).
Read his whole mission statement.
I think maybe his style of preaching is what turned me off and as I stated in the OP.......I could hardly understand half of what he was saying....not a comprehension problem but a "hearing" problem based on the way he preaches". I simply couldn't understand most of the words.
I see I have some research to do and some TD Jakes TV watching to do. Also, think I'll check some of his books out at the library. Those were on my list of things to do anyway. Just thought I'd post on here to see if there were any quick "show and tell" YouTube videos like of Benny Hinn. Visual evidence like that is easier for my sister to understand.
I've shown her the Benny Hinn stuff and now she thinks he's a nut. So that issue is over.
I mostly don't watch TBN because of the Crouches, Hinn etc. I'd watch Hal Lindsey's Intelligence Briefing and maybe sometimes the movies they'd have on but that was it.

It also seems that some of the web sites posted claim he's a oneness Pentecostal because of the wording using the word "manifestations" of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
man·i·fes·ta·tion (mān'ə-fě-stā'shən) Pronunciation Key
n.
The act of manifesting.
The state of being manifested.
One of the forms in which someone or something, such as a person, a divine being, or an idea, is revealed.
The materialized form of a spirit.
An indication of the existence, reality, or presence of something: A high fever is an early manifestation of the disease.
One of the forms in which someone or something, such as a person, a divine being, or an idea, is revealed.
The materialized form of a spirit.
A public demonstration, usually of a political nature.
I've noticed some bad grammar and spelling errors on some T.D. Jakes sites and I wonder if this is where the problem stems? Or does he believe that Jesus was just a manifestation of God and not an altogether, totally separate person in the Trinity?
IMHO, God has literally split Himself into three separate and distinct people in the Trinity. Each is God yet each is separate and distinct. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirity. Holy Trinity.
Jesus, Himself prayed to and talked to the "Father" and re: the Rapture says only His Father knows the hour thus meaning that Jesus doesn't even know. Only God the Father knows which totally suggests to me Jesus was not a manefistation of God or He would know. Nor would He need to talk to Himself and pray to Himself, i.e. if He was a manifestation of God. However, the NT makes perfect sense if God split Himself into three separate yet distinct people, "God the Father", "God the Son (Jesus)", and "God the Holy Spirit".
Geesh...........it's enough to give you a headache.

Is he a modalist?
I don't know, but others seem to think so...
While I mix with Christians from a broad range of theological perspectives, I speak only for my personal faith and convictions. I am not a theologian, and I avoid quoting even theologians who agree with me. To defend my beliefs, I go directly to the Bible.
My views on the Godhead are from 1 John 5:7-8, "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." (NKJV)
I believe in one God who is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe these three have distinct and separate functions so separate that each has individual attributes, yet are one. I do not believe in three Gods.

I don't know enough about him to say yes or no.

I do know that he is too Word of Faith for myself.
It’s what you say to yourself that gets you healed. If you say that you won’t be healed you won’t be healed. If you say that you are broke you will stay broke. Oh! But I came to serve notice on the Devil. The Bible says, ‘The power of life and death is in the tongue. Slap somebody and say, ‘You better speak to yourself.’” (“Seize the Moment,” Woman Thou Art Loosed, 2000 Atlanta)
His saying also from Woman thou art loosed...."Slap somebody and tell them I'm an Amazon woman" always makes me laugh. :lolw

Just a few tips of dealing with someone who is into a WOF teacher.
First, you should watch him with your sister. You don't get the right to critise unless you know what it is that she is hearing.
Second, never make any instant remarks while watching. Note whatever doesn't sit well with you, go to the Bible prayfully look it up and find what the Bible says. Get your facts right and have them ready.
Third, Pray before sitting down and speaking to your sister about the things you find wrong with what TD Jakes preaches.
Fourth, respect that your sister has the right to reject what you tell her and love her anyway. This is not about being right it is about hopefully getting your sister be a good Berean and checking out for herself what the Bible says compared to what TD Jakes teaches. Most of these WOFers don't directly deny that Jesus died for our sins that gives us salvation. As long as your sister continues to remain clear about her salvation that is the foundation of Faith. Agree to disagree and continue to pray for her.
I think that is sound advice. Too often people go to the "critique" websites which select comments and interpret them - often misrepresenting what is taught. Go to the original source, and compare it with the Bible, is the best advice anyone could give.

The reason why people target TD Jakes is that his roots are in Unitarianism. He has been confronted about where he stands on the Trinity issue. TD Jakes has refused to categorically state that this is his only view of God.
Now please note there are many types of Unitarianism. Some Unitarians agree that Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all the same Divine Being but allots them different levels of divinty. God has the most, then the Jesus and then the Holy Spirit. This is a suttle deception.
So it is interesting the choice of words he uses, "existing in three manifestations". This still allows room to give Jesus less divinity than the Father in his teaching. This statement is not re-affirming that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are also All Powerfull, All Sovereign & All Divine.
Here is a link to an overview on Unitarianism if you want to have a look for yourself.

I hope this gives you some insight into why some False Teachers Websites target TD Jakes.
