My sister has epilepsy and is a little slow mentally in some areas but not in every area. She goes to a very conservative evangelical church.

She's been watching TBN and loves T.D. Jakes. Now I've only watched him once but didn't like what I heard.

Could any of you out there point me to any websites re: him and if he's WOF etc.? I would appreciate it.

I'm going to have to break it down very simple for her and use Scripture to do it and not make it complicated. Otherwise she's stubborn and also thinks she knows everything about everything. :aha Sometimes it's hard to get through to her.

IDEA! If he's WOF I could put on a leather mask and go crank up a chainsaw :heh............not the right thing to do. :hehee

She's very hard to get through to. Father's day we had a very "intense" discussion of Benny Hinn :rolleyes and she had only seen him once. Didn't believe a word I told her. So if any of you folks know of any YouTube videos of Jakes like there are of Hinn then I'll be able to get through to her.

Then again maybe Jakes is okay and I just didn't like his style of preaching. Actually, I couldn't understand half of what he was saying.

Comments? Weblinks? Etc.

Thanks.

TD Jakes is what is known as a "oneness pentecostal" - meaning he doesn't believe in the Trinity. In my personal opinion, he's one of the most dangerous false teachers out there.

never cared for him since he conjoled an auditorium full of captive-audience women to vote for Al Gore, made them sit through an Al Gore commercial although they were there for a Christian women's conference, not for a political brain-washing session. All this was televised, saw it with my own eyes,... cheap exercise in my opinion

Makes one wonder how a "christian leader" can promote someone like Al Gore. If you take a look at what Al believes and hold in high esteem - you'll be shocked!

Thanks. You've given me something to work with. Hard to talk to her about him when she watches him and I never do.

You're welcome.

Just a few tips of dealing with someone who is into a WOF teacher.

First, you should watch him with your sister. You don't get the right to critise unless you know what it is that she is hearing.

Second, never make any instant remarks while watching. Note whatever doesn't sit well with you, go to the Bible prayfully look it up and find what the Bible says. Get your facts right and have them ready.

Third, Pray before sitting down and speaking to your sister about the things you find wrong with what TD Jakes preaches.

Fourth, respect that your sister has the right to reject what you tell her and love her anyway. This is not about being right it is about hopefully getting your sister be a good Berean and checking out for herself what the Bible says compared to what TD Jakes teaches. Most of these WOFers don't directly deny that Jesus died for our sins that gives us salvation. As long as your sister continues to remain clear about her salvation that is the foundation of Faith. Agree to disagree and continue to pray for her.

I have experience dealing with friends who follow some famous WOF teachers. They have changed their minds on some absolutely false teachings of these teachers but they just can't fully let go. I'm hoping over time they will spend more time just reading the Bible for themselves because as it says in 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I will pray for your sister and for your ability to relate to her the Truth of God's word in any areas TD Jakes may have led her astray. Most of all I will pary for her healing through Jesus Christ our Lord, who can and does heal.
