Alright I'll come right out and be up front about this topic. I already know people are going to get mad and pretty much flip out about this, but I do think under the right circumstance that a game like this could in fact be used for worship.

But first allow me to make my case, then post whatever is on your mind. I'm cool with that. I run a website dedicated to this idea, not necessarily the idea of using it to worship God, but the idea of the game in general.

Let me lay some framework for a foundation and I will build on it. When I use the word God, first and for most I mean the God of the Bible, not god as used in the english language. God loves music that glorifies Him, He created it. Anytime a Christian sings to God from their soul, it brings glory to Him. That is a truth that is not deniable. Second there are a number of places in the Bible where His creation uses instruments to praise Him. They were not only pleasing God, they were enjoying their time doing it.

I have no doubt that this game will be used recklessly. I know "playing" a plastic guitar is not "playing" in a traditional manor. I know that not all of the music will not be deep in a theological sense. (a lot may be very good.) But I also know that the Bible is the number one tool a true Christian uses for worship, and Gods Word is used far more recklessly and with much more danger. I also know that although playing the controller is not the same, it is not greatly different either. I do play the guitar, and the higher difficulty you choose, the more strikingly similar it gets. An electric keyboard is not playing a piano, but it is accepted. Where does the line get drawn?

At ChristianGuitarHeroGame.com (http://www.ChristianGuitarHeroGame.com) we make it very clear that responsible use is key. Priorities (and there are many) must never be affected. However when used properly I think it just could be true, You can use an xbox for a tool for Gods glory. In a day and age where many are worshiping an xbox...

I see nothing wrong with playing the game and making it a way to show praise and worship to God, I mean, as long as you don't play this game 12 hours a day and make it something you put before God, like many people do with the other Guitar Hero series, then I see nothing wrong with it. If you truly play the game to praise God in your OWN special way, then go for it.

I'm really surprised nobody else had anything to say... I kind of assumed I would meet some objection. This is something I have wondered about before. I think it would be good for a youth group activity

Yeah, I see nothing wrong with that idea. Sounds like fun and just another great way to praise Him.

Christian Guitar Hero was discussed in a thread just a couple of weeks ago in Anything Goes. It was very positive thread. Many, like myself, think it's a good thing.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are absolute blasts...however, some of the images and songs are disturbing. Most of us are pleased with the idea of a Christian version, and yes, it could certainly be used in praise and would be good for youth groups.

I dislike anything that gets you out on the floor and dancing and gyrating and makes you feel like you just want to go crazy. It's too much like what the pagans do.

Hi cdecker and :welcome,I see you're new here!

I'm probably quite a bit older than you,and so my opinions and my viewpoint on this may seem a bit stuffy and old-fashioned,but there's plenty of help for this answer your seeking in Scripture. I truely think before you give too much creedence to others opinions, which even among "christians" can most likely be unbliblical probably 90% of the time at best, that you should very diligently seek God's truth and guidance on this matter.
Bringing something into a youth group, especially something like this, can easily end up being spiritually destructive to young, easily swayed souls.

God is holy and true worship will reflect that,I think so many times it is truely our flesh that we are really feeding and worshipping rather than worshipping God in the beauty of His holiness and worshipping Him and His majesty, righteousness and power and holiness.

I just think that each one of us,as God's spirit-filled children, can and should discern what is truely being worshipped,is it the flesh and our desires and personal preferences,or is it worship that is consecreted to a Holy God?

Leviticus 11:44
"For I am the Lord, your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy as I am holy."
His holiness is the foundation of true worship.

Personally, I love this idea. I am constantly telling my kids " no you can't have that" and Guitar Hero is one such thing. They are young and want to share some thing in common with their friends. This would be a nice compromise for me. They get the game they want but the music will be uplifting and not of the world! I will pray that this happens. :thumb
