Since the small uproar that my comment about allah brought about in class on Thursday, I've been wondering---
If a professed Christian makes the claim that God and allah are the same, would that be considered blasphemy?

I don't think it's blasphemy, (blasphemy is against the Holy Spirit...the Power of Almighty God), but I would consider the statement unknowledgeable and ludicrous.

To equate Allah with the God of Abraham is a type of blasphemy.
I believe Allah is a demon.
Muhammed's Evil Spirit (http://www.balaams-ass.com/alhaj/page19.htm)-- Dajjal
Each of these topics becomes more volatile. I cannot help that. I am bound by The Lord Jesus Christ and the truth to deal with the whole life of Muhammed. Jesus said in the Bible, John 8:32, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. As you, my Muslim friend, read these facts about Muhammed from his mouth, perhaps it will help you to leave him and turn to Christ. Here is what Muhammed said:
MUHAMMED'S EVIL SPIRIT AND ENCHANTMENT
Al Hadis, Vol. 4, p. 359, Ayesha reported that Haresah-b-Hisham asked the Apostle of Allah and said, "O Apostle, how does revelation come to you?" The Apostle of Allah responded, "Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell..." The bells of hell? The association with devils is more clear in the following:
Al Hadis, Vol 4, p. 360, Obadah-b-Swamet reported that when a revelation came to the Prophet, he used to become greatly disturbed, and his face became changed. And in a narration, he would nod his head, and his companions nodded theirs..." Attested by Muslim. This has all the marks of a trance or demon possession complete with facial distortion.
Al Hadis, Vol 4, p. 414, Ayesha reported that the Apostle of Allah was once enchanted. He called to Allah who sent angels. They sat by his legs and discussed his problem, and one angel said, "who enchanted him?" The other said, "Labeed-b-A'sam, a Jew, who used a comb to comb Muhammed's hair and the grape cover of a male person" He asked, "Where is it?" The other said, "In the well at Zerwan." The Apostle went to the well. The well was the color of Henna and the date palms were the heads of devils. He took out the comb, and the enchantment went away." Agreed. This sub-christian enchantment is nothing but demon possession.
We know that Muhammed was possessed because he prayed to be delivered of his devil: Al Hadis, Vol. 3, p. 803, Ayesha reported that the Prophet used to say (in prayer), "O Allah! I seek refuge from Thee from the chastisement of the Fire... the trials of the grave... and the evils of the trials of the one-eyed Dajjal..." Attested by agreement. Who is Dajjal? He is a devil who possessed Muhammed.
Muhammad himself was convinced that the "revelations" he received in the Hira Cave were evil, and from a demon (Jinn).
Muhammad's constant fits, foaming at the mouth and other manifestations certainly fit in with that idea. This is how demon possessed people are known to behave today, as they did in both the times of Jesus and Muhammad. The Hebrew prophets, and Jesus Christ never behaved like this. But all over the world where demons are listened to, you will find this kind of behavior.
Murder, rape, plunder and destruction are all perfectly fine with Allah - if done in the name of Islam

I believe Allah is in reality, another name for Satan...imho. I personally wouldn't equate Almighty God and allah together at all.
For someone to do so, they would have to be not thinking and unknowledgeable about the Real God.

Well it is a very interesting question - I believe that equating God with Satan is definitely Blasphemy but there are many professing christians that don't know the Truth. We who know the Koran is a Lie from Satan would know better. There are many unknowlegeable people who are deceived by the belief that allah is the creator of the world and he must be the same as the God of the Bible.
Actually this is very interesting because I see that this could be the begining of the Great Lie that will meld together the two Religions of the world Catholicism and Islam along with common beliefs about the 'Queen' of heaven.
When the world sees the 'miracle' of these two Religions coming together for peace with more than half the world's population - the rest of the world will just follow blindly along. - Hence the OWR.

You're right!
This is actually the "Gospel" preached by near death experiencers, and New Agers (Even the Pope has said this). They say God is the same no matter what name you call Him. Not true because only Jesus Christ can save us, not Allah or Buddha, or anyone else. I think this is the "Gospel" which will be preached by the coming "One World Religion".
It is Christ or nothing.

Satan is not God. Demons are not God. Allah is not God. Allah is a satanic/demonic imposter.

By definition, blasphemy does apply...to accept allah as God is to deny the Holy Spirit and His prompting and teaching of Truth. It is heresy to say that Allah is the same as God. As someone pointed out, those who know the koran and study the teachings and doctrines of the Mohammadeens, can boldly say that allah is a demonic entity at worst, or an empty pagan idol at best. Either way, it is indeed blasphemous to equate allah with YVWH.
