I have a biblical question. My question in relation to this is what do others think this bible passage means. It appear to me that this servant did know Christ because he said "My lord" and he is referred to as a servant. Then because the servant lost hope/patience (My lord delayeth his coming), he ends up in hell. The passage does say "appoint him his portion with the hypocrites" so maybe the servant wasn't saved but I'm not sure. Any thoughts on how to interpret this passage?

But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Thanks

I look at this parable as being the difference between an unbeliever and a believer. The unbeliever never comes to the Lord so is thrown into the lake of fire at the final judgment.

I took it as, a believer who is watching and waitn gfo rthe Lord and living accordingly, but becasue the Lord delays, he falls away. And thus will be his portion.

The idea that a believer can lose his salvation is a grave error.
However, we may be ashamed at His coming 1 John 2:28
We can lose All our rewards 1 Cor 3:11-15
Nevertheless, we who believe are ALL brands plucked out of the fire and clothed with the garments of Yeshua. Zec 3:1-4 Isa 61:10

Salvation is not the issue but our works will indeed be tried by fire.

Many blessings in Yeshua,

Tony

I believe it is referring to those in the tribulation period, and regarding His Second Coming (not to the Church age.) I believe that Jack Kelley of Grace Thru Faith believes this, as well. :hat
