I have 2 cordless RadioShack phones (TAD-3817) which are obsolete, but would work fine with new batteries. The batteries in the phones are 3.6 v, 600 mAh, Nickel-Cadmium.

I want to get Energizer ER-P110 Universal Plug Cordless Phone Battery for replacements, but it is 3.6 v, 1200 mAh (and Ni-Mh :) ).

I studied electronics YEARS ago, but can't remember if the mAh is critical, or if just having the correct voltage is enough.

Please refresh my memory and give me your advice!

Thanks in advance!!!

To put it in layman terms, I think the volts is the water pressure, and the mah is the size of the bucket.

More mah, the water will flow longer.

What the catch in your case is, is that the charger for the phone will not fill that bucket all the way in the same amount of time as the old bucket.

All that said, I am not sure if it would just take longer setting in the base to charge fully, or if the charger would never bring it up to full charge.

Oh Kung!

:aha

Those batteries should be fine *IF* the battery end fits. :nod

Although mAh is not an issue, I'm aways wary of interchaning NiCad with NiMh.

I *think* (not 100% sure) you can use NiMh on a NiCad charger (particularly a trickle-charge process like what the phone may use), but the inverse is not true. If that's the case, then no problems.

I think you can as well, but I wouldn't recommend it if there's any way to avoid it.
