Clare blessed by Pope on Lourdes trip

Some 1,400 pilgrims from the Meath diocese were among the crowd of 250,000 who attended the open air Mass offered at Lourdes on Sunday by Pope Benedict.

Among them was Clare Buckley, from Mullingar, who was received the Sacrament of the Sick from the Pope during Sunday’s ceremony.

A former member of the Meath Hospitalité staff, Clare said after the Mass that the blessing of Pope Benedict and prayers of fellow pilgrims was an extra strength and comfort as she copes with illness.

It's not that praying for the sick and dying is wrong. What is questionable, as well as unbiblical, is the practice of praying to Mary. Mary cannot help anyone anymore than our dead friends and relatives.
