At Notre Dame, pope tells French calls art, prayer pathways to God

PARIS (CNS) -- Standing in one of the world's most beautiful cathedrals, Pope Benedict XVI told French priests, religious and seminarians that art and prayer were pathways to God.

Then he went outside and, cheered by thousands of young Catholics, prepared them for a candlelight procession across Paris.

The pope's appearance Sept. 12 at Notre Dame Cathedral .....

The pope did not mention those problems. Instead, leading a celebration of vespers, he first paid tribute to the cathedral as "a living sign of God's presence in our midst," one whose beauty had helped spur conversions of the famous and the unknown. ..........

Has the Pope seen some of the supposed art??

What kind of pathway would someone be on that portrays Christ in a homosexual last supper? What kind of message is that to God? Not very favorable I would say.

That's what a former pastor said to me when I all but accused him of going emergent. He told me that stained glass windows, praying a one word repetitive prayer, art, poetry, etc, all brought people closer to God. He never even mentioned the Bible. Following that was Harry Potter on the screen before the service began. That was the moment we knew without a doubt, that it was time to leave!

Technically maybe.:heh

I knew I should have gotten serious with my John Nagy Learn to Draw stuff....(let's see if anyone remembers him! )

If I were a catholic, I'd really be confused right now....there's Jesus who we pray to...but he's not enough so we have to pray to his mother who remained a virgin and bodily ascended into Heaven...plus all those saints, so many that we lose track of....not to mention those beads they play with or that a wafer somehow turns into Christ's body with magic words from a priest--who also is the go between a person and God at confession.....and statues...don't forget the statues! And now the pope adds art into the mix....dang. It's no wonder people go on drugs with all that to contend with....and then there's pergatoury...which means this continues after your dead.....ARRRGGGGG!!!....:twitch :twitch

What's really bad is that John 14:6 says the same thing in the "official Catholic Bible" (NAB) as it does in the KJV.

Actually, it was the pastor superimposed as Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was nearly in tears after the service and mentioned it to one of the elders who laughed at me. We were gone that day never to return!
