Is this worth calling the police over?

This is kind of weird. We've had a pile of decorative bark chips in our yard off to the side for awhile and I've not worked from it in the last month. Well, I happen to saunter over to that side and noticed that there's a fresh dent that's been taken out and it's pretty obvious where the newly exposed bark chips are verses the exposed one's that have been in the sun this summer.

As I was looking I remembered that there was quite a bit more bark chips than what is there now, and there's some dents where a truck or some vehicle recently backed up to the pile. It looks like a small truck load was taken and it must have been done at night. On the other side of the pile is the road our neighbors behind us drive down and with teenagers and family coming and going they would've seen something if it was during the day(I already called them), and dh works from home and I'm a stay at home mom.

We have good neigbors and have no reason to suspect them at all!:scratch

There isn't any way to know who took the bark since no one saw the incident. The only thing the police could do is file a report.

I have heard of individuals digging up newly planted landscaping either at homes or the landscaping around new housing additions/building sites. I might give the police a call. The police can always do drive bys at night, this might esculate into something more, so I would give them a heads up.

Around Halloween time as a kid, people would go around stealing pumpkins and those colorful leaf bags and destroying them. The neighborhood experienced a huge rash of incidences where their stuff had gone missing.
My mom started tying down our stuff with fishing line to the porch, with just enough lead they could run with it and fall over. Then the problem stopped.

Maybe start tying your other stuff down? :scratch
