I just came across this little article in our local newspaper, I'll type out what it says:
$100 tip was the answer to my prayer
"It was a Wednesday night around 7:30 p.m., when I waited on a table with a family of three (a man, his wife, and their ten-month-old baby girl who had the prettiest blue eyes ever). We started talking and I found myself talking to them every time I went to the table. By the end of the meal, we knew our daughters' names, each others, day cares, where we were from, etc. I enjoyed them so much. It felt like I had known them for years.
When it was time for them to leave, I gave them all their to-go stuff and credit receipt, told them how nice it was to meet them and to have a good night. Then I walked back to the kitchen. When I came back to my section, they were gone. I opened the book to look at my credit card receipt and I thought it said $10 so I closed the book back. Then I thought, "No, that's not right," so I opened the book again for a second look. Those two people with a $23 check had left me a $100 tip, and wrote at the bottom, "Thanks for the great service!" By the time I made it from my table to the kitchen there were tears running down my face. When my manager asked me what was wrong, all I could do was hand him the book, because you see, I had also been threatened with eviction for the first time ever and my rent was due the following Monday. I'm short this month due to a slow month in the restaurant business.
I prayed before I went to work that night that I needed to make $100, which I must say, is far-fetched for a Wednesday night, so I at least needed to make as close to $100 as I could.
My name is Jennifer and I am a single parent. I have one little girl who will turn 2 next month. We've been making it on our own since she was 5 months old.
I just wanted to say how nice it is to know that there are such good-hearted people people still out there. But I know that it was a blessing and that my prayers had been answered that night.
As I sit and write this, with tears falling on my paper, I want to thank that family from the bottom of my heart. I can't express me gratitude enough. I will remember you forever! May God bless your family!"
