My wife was reading her bible the other night and came across this text in Jeremiah...I realize there are things in the bible that we study and go, maybe we arent meant to understand or cant understand why God may have put that in there...But when it talks about in 18 burnt offerings, grain offerings and make sacrifices, what does it mean? I get the fact of David never failing to have a man on the throne of the house of Israel thats obvious...but what Im not catching is the fact that they will have a man there to make burnt offerings and sacrifices, when Christ is the eternal sacrifice..maybe Im reading it wrong..does someone have a better grip on this?

It says that the Levitical preists would always have a man to perform the burnt offerings. The Davidic line would never die out.
Jesus comes out of the lineage of David. So the one who was referred to as the "son of David" is on the throne permanently.
