Yes.. forget it
Contemplative spirituality:
http://www.redeemer.com/learn/classes/spiritual_formation.html
and he's probably emergent
Kingdom Now:
http://www.redeemer.com/connect/prayer/kingdom_prayer.html
Please take time to look into these people and their church "statement of faith". It is not difficult to see on many of these churches that they have a "vision" and not a statement. Also.. put in words on their sites such as "spiritual formation" and names such as Willard, Foster, Bell..
check out their "prayer" sectioni and also women's and student's Bible studies.
This, usually will reveal what the church/pastor is all about!

Here's what the church's bold statement is on their main site:
Redeemer Presbyterian Church- Seeking to Renew the City Socially, Spiritually and Culturally.
Core Values:
1. Gospel
The 'gospel' is the good news that through Christ the power of God's kingdom has entered history to renew the whole world. When we believe and rely on Jesus' work and record (rather than ours) for our relationship to God, that kingdom power comes upon us and begins to work through us. :twitch
2. Changed People
The Gospel changes people from the inside out.
Christ gives us a radically new identity, freeing us from both self-righteousness and self-condemnation. :twitch He liberates us to accept people we once excluded, and to break the bondage of things (even good things) that once drove us. In particular, the gospel makes us welcoming and respectful toward those who do not share our beliefs.:twitch

thanks for the info sing4him
you are a blessing
now I know know why these friends of Jeff's suggested to him (who BTW is sadly into some of this emergent garbage) that church in NYC
please pray for my friend Jeff (he believes that Osteen and Rick Warren are false teachers
but sadly is mostly blind to
what these emergents he is somewhat fond of's teachings really are: false teachings
(he has taken issue with statements Tony Jones has said but other than that he is largely blind to what the emergnets are really peddling

I believe they may also be replacement theologists...
I know of many people who have left that church because they say it is cold or lacking something.... I believe it may be the Holy Spirit since they are puffed up on knowledge and intellectualism...
Alot of people go their because they say "so and so preaches so good, its very intellectual"...
