My husband and I absolutely love Mexican and eating out there.
We frequent 2 or 3 different places in the area and all bring out a big basket of chips with their salsa.
Question: How do you make or buy those kinds of chips?
They are always hot like they were fried??? baked???
Anybody have any past experiences or know how the chips can be made?
Thanks!

Most likely fried.
You can buy fresh corn tortillas and cut and fry them yourself. Its also OK to reheat bagged ones in the oven.

So are you saying... buy the flat soft white tortillas and triangle them up and fry them in normal vegetable oil?
That's it?

That's it?I wouldnt use the flour ones. You want fresh corn ones. They are a bit harder to find.

Get the white corn tortillas, cut up and fry in the oil of your choice. Or heat up store bot chips in the oven or even the microwave. I'm not sure, but I think most Mexican restaurants just heat up the store bought chips...

After frying the corn tortillas in hot oil, place them on a paper towel to drain and cool and be sure to sprinkle with salt! Oh yum!!

I used to fry up the flour ones. YUM! I always got lots of compliments on them.
I guess I don't do that any more......too much oil :tsk .
