Would someone adress the beast's emnity for the whore and his eventual murder and pilage of her?

I wonder if it could possibly be a government system that regulates his power? Similar to how our House of Reps/Senate are related to the Presidency.

It's probably talking about a system of checks and balances and when the AC decides that entity has worn out it's usefulness, he'll probably do away with it in favor of direct power by himself.

My understanding, derived from various teachers, is that the Harlot represents a False Religous system, based on Babylonian teachings, (Astrology, demon worship, magic, reincarnation, possible ascension of humans to godhood, etc.) which supports the Beast during the 1st half of the Trib.

During the 2nd half of the Trib, the Beast attempts to reintroduce something like Monotheism, but with himself as the one god. Thus he needs to eliminate the original false system to substitute the new false religous system.

For a historical example, the Nazis with their own semi-occult mystical system of racial superiority, tried to exterminate not just Christians, but all rival occult systems, (astrologers, fortune tellers, etc.,) so theirs could prevail.
