I don't know if this has already been posted, but I thought it would be nice to start up a dessert thread.
I'll start off with a yummy dessert recipe that is really easy to make:
Southern Banana Pudding
3 cups cold milk
2 pkg. Jell-O Vanilla Flavor
Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
30 Nilla Wafers
3 medium bananas sliced
1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip Whipped Topping, thawed
POUR milk into large bowl. Add dry pudding mixes. Beat with wire whisk 2 minutes or until well blended. Let it stand about 5 minutes.
ARRANGE half of the wafers on the bottom and up side of the 2-qt. serving bowl; top with layers of half of each of the banana slices and pudding. Repeat all layers. Cover with whipped topping.
REFRIGERATE 3 hours or until ready to serve. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.
Hope you enjoy:thumb:yeah

I forgot to add that you can make this SUGAR FREE as well. Jell-O has an Instant Sugar Free Vanilla Pudding and Pie Filling, Cool Whip has a Sugar Free Whipped Topping, and I know some Vanilla Wafers comes Sugar Free as well...my stepfather loves banana pudding, but he is also a diabetic. When I make it, I make one just for him.:thumb

The best Banana Pudding recipe can be found on a box of Nabisco Vanilla Wafers. You make your own custard for this pudding instead of using the mix, and you make meringue for the top of the dish, no Cool Whip. It's a classic. None of my relatives or friends south of the Mason-Dixon Line would ever use instant pudding or Cool Whip to make their banana pudding. That kind of banana pudding, peach cobbler and cheesecake are my favorite desserts. :thumb
PS: I didn't mean for this to be a criticism. Old fashioned, southern banana pudding has been a holiday staple in both my husband's and my families for as long as either of us can remember. He's from Tennessee and my family is from Mississippi. The recipe is handed down to every generation, and now my daughter knows how to make it. I'll bet your version is a lot healthier, less work and tastes delicious as well! I'll have to try it.

This one is a pain to make but OH is it worth the time:
Tiramisu Toffee Torte
1 white cake mix
1 cup strong brewed coffee, room temperature
4 egg whites
4 (1.4 oz) Heath candy bars (chopped)
Frosting
4 oz cream cheese (softened)
2/3 cup sugar
2 cups whipping cream
1/3 cup chocolate syrup
¼ cup strong brewed coffee (room temperature)
6 Tbs. strong brewed coffee (room temperature)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 (1.4 oz) Heath candy bar (chopped)
Line two greased 9 inch round baking pans with waxed paper and grease the paper; set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat the cake mix, coffee and egg whites on low speed until moistened. Beat on high for 2 minutes. Fold in chopped candy bars. Pour into prepared pans.
Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. When cool, split each cake into two horizontal layers.
For frosting, in a chilled mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add the whipping cream, chocolate syrup, ¼ cup of coffee and vanilla. Beat on high speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
Place one cake layer on a serving plate; drizzle with 2 tablespoons of the remaining coffee. Spread with ¾ cup frosting. Repeat twice. Top with fourth cake layer. Frost top and sides of cake with remaining frosting. Refrigerate overnight. Garnish with chopped candy bar. Store in the refrigerator.

Buttermilk Pie. :drool
I long thought that the recipe died with my Great Grandma, until my Mom said she knew only that she based it off an old recipe from Betty Crocker. I wrote my girl Betty a few years back and told of the pie that I had not enjoyed since the 6th grade. They had the recipe still, and I gave it to my neighbor who is an excellent pastry chef. It took multiple tweaks, but together we figured out the changes my GG had made to the recipe. My neighbor bakes this pie for me every year for my Birthday now (just like when I was a kid), and sometimes if I am having a hard day, a pie will show up at my door. :D

The German Chocolate cake my mom used to bake for my birthday every year from the back of the Baker's German Chocolate wrapper . . . The rest of the family didn't like the coconut pecan frosting, so I got the entire three layer cake all to myself!!!!!

Pecan pie is high on my list.
Do you have a recipe for really good pecan pie? I've tried some from "books" but a friend of mine who ate the pie (a man from Georgia) said it wasn't "the real thing." So I asked him if he had a recipe for "real" pecan pie . . . he just gave me a blank stare!!!!
