Did Jesus want to be accepted

Did Jesus want to be accepted by the Jews as messiah during his earthly ministry (before the crucifixion)? If he had been accepted as messiah would he have been crucified? Would grace have came to the gentiles? These questions stem from a reply I made in another post and something just keeps troubling me about the comments I made. Did Jesus want to be rejected by the Jews?
