Atheist Group Sues President Bush Over National Prayer Day

The largest group of atheists and agnostics in the United States is suing US President George W. Bush, the governor of Wisconsin and other officials over a federal law designating a National Day of Prayer.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation sued Friday in US district court, arguing that the president's mandated proclamations calling on Americans to pray violates a constitutional ban on government officials endorsing religion.

The day of prayer, held each year on the first Thursday of May, creates a "hostile environment for nonbelievers, who are made to feel as if they are political outsiders," the lawsuit said.

The national proclamation issued this year asked God's blessings on our country and called for Americans to observe the day with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.

Just because some people are celebrating a special day, doesn't mean that others have to join in. If my Muslim neighbour (I don't have one, but if) wanted to celebrate Ramadan, does that mean that I have to join in?

Dwe celebrate the Jewish Holidays? Do they celebrate Cholidays? Do the Muslims celebrate the holidays of other faiths?

Some people need to get a life. Let them set up a national athiest's day. They can celebrate what?

Maybe I should sue the Atheists for forcing teachers to teach evolution, and then supporting the theory with bold face lies? Maybe I should sue them for forcing their ridiculous and illogical religion on me and the youth of America?

Atheists are all about having their cake and eating it too.

oh, please.....I go to a NDOP service every year, they are usually in churches where atheists don't go anyways, and it's completely voluntary.........
