Abiding Patience

I am currently renting my home from my parents. The Electric/Gas and utility bills are still in my parents name, so get a bill from them and write a check once a month. My normal habit is to calculate 1 years worth of energy bills, divide by 12 and add or take from my savings according to the actual amount due. This insures the money is there when the higher winter heating bills come and allows me to earn interest on the money.
Anyway, two months ago, my gas/electric bill was 4x what it usually is during the summer. I questioned it, but assumed that it was an adjustment. The meter reader will sometime estimate the bill, if they cannot get to the house and I had 4 months of slightly lower then normal bills.
This following month was also 4x larger then normal. At this point I got concerned, questioning my own habits, I pulled the extra money from my savings and wrote the check. Then I began to make plans on what I would have to give up and where to cut costs if the situation continues.
As I paid my tithe that Sunday, I cried out to God for more wisdom in my finances and asked for help in the current situation. :pray Monday evening, I got a call from my dad. He had deposited my check and was preparing to pay my bill, when he noticed that the electric company had made a mistake. They had installed a new/used meter and had not cleared out the previous balance. They had just corrected the error.
Not only was he returning the money I had just given him, but I had a credit on my bill that would take care of next months balance as well.:yeah
Then this last Friday, my boss at work pulled me aside to tell me that the owner of the company had recognized my outstanding work, and had issued me a rather significant raise.:faint
This will help me get on more stable financial ground, pay down some debts.
I praise the Lord for hearing my cries and giving me the measure of faith needed to get through this situation. He watches over us even when we panic a little. I am truly truly blessed.
