Missing microphone in Sounds

My DD accidently deleted the microphone recording device in "sounds". She did it several months ago. Now I'd like to use it...but it's not there. It says device not installed. I don't know how to reinstall it. Her laptop is a Toshiba and is running Vista Home edition.

Have you tried going to the Control Panel and selecting ADD HARDWARE? I'm assuming you mean the microphone
hardware is disabled and you are not talking about the software to record from the microphone.

Thanks for answering. It was completely missing. I finally took it to Best Buy and they reinstalled it and it works fine now. THANKS!
