Since my husband got his internship, and I'm working less hours, it has been a blessing. The weather has been pretty nice recently, and I can finally crack open some windows! We live right next to a small wooded area on the side of a hill, in the middle of a city of all places, it allows cool fresh air to creep into the apartment. I actually feel like cleaning things and doing chores.
I'm still working on getting the house in top shape. But I feel better than I did before. I guess doing house chores is kinda my thing after all.
I went to the grocery store today to pick up some odds and ends, on a bike no less. I thought my arm was gonna fall off from the weight of the bags.
I'm also working on finding a better system to manage our food.
We do buy a good amount of produce, but it often goes bad before we use it all up. He likes to cook for me and do all the work, but often time he forgets we some nice extras in the crisper we can use. Not to mention he hates doing dishes everyday (he's spoiled, and is used to having a dishwasher). I'm fine with dishes if they don't pile up like he let them when he wasn't working. So we came to a compromise. We have enough money now I broke down and got a few paper plates, really small plastic cups, and some plastic spoons. I also made use of my nice, clear non-stainable rubbermaid containers it got from our wedding, chopped up most of our veggies and put them in the fridge. The vegetables are no longer out of sight out of mind. If he wants to use them, he can just throw them right in with no problem. I also brought out some cherries his mom gave us that are in the freezer to defrost and some chicken broth we made.
We'll see how this works. I plan on starting to make him some lunches, and purchased some cheapy plastic containers for him to use. He apparently has trouble distinguishing between good and bad towels, silverware, dishes, and the like. I'll die if he throws away one of my rubbermaids at work :lol2
Other than that I haven't done much. But I figured I could just start posting stuff I get done so I won't feel so bad when I don't get things done. Anyone else can feel free to post what they have done too.
Yesterday I got 8 loads of laundry done, cleaned the bathroom sink and mirror, and got two dish loads done (more like one with a shallow sink). Not shabby for only having so many hours between classes and having to work in the same evening.
Now to train him to not leave clothes in the floor. :lol2
