I can't remember anything..... My poor child suffers because i can't remember all the things he is supposed to take with him to school.
Today, Sonny's kindergarten class is having a "tasting party". It was my job to send in a spicy food for them. I got the notice last week, posted it on my fridge so i wouldn't forget and guess what.... I still forgot. I just now remembered it. :crying
This past monday it was his lunch. HIS LUNCH OF ALL THINGS!!! :sorry
Last week, it was his library book, library day is on tuesday, i forgot to put his book in his bag and he wasn't allowed to check out another one. he loves to read books and he was so upset that i forgot it.
The week before that, it was his fundraiser money, I forgot that too. :frust
I feel terrible. what is wrong with me that i can't remember these simple things. I even post reminders all over my fridge and house to remind me and I still can't keep up with all this. His teacher must think i'm a terrible parent because i'm so forgetful. :panic

:hug been there done that. I use to put things on the fridge but I would not remember. I had to go to Staples and buy on of those huge calenders and post everything on there and important need to remember days I would highlight. And to remember to look at the calendar I hung it in a place where I had no choice but to notice it in the morning

i think i'm going to have to do that too. maybe post it on the back of my front door so it's the first thing i see when i walk out the door in the morning. my stepdad usually keeps these things on his calendar also. He watches Sonny in the morning and puts him on the bus. But he has more faith in my memory than what is deserved and he forgets to remind me of these things also. i called my mom this morning to tell her that i had forgotten and she says, "well, i thought about it monday night, but i thought his tasting party was on monday so i didn't call you to remind you because i thought there was no sense in reminding you, because the day was over and you had already forgotten anyway!" :doh
edit: by the way, the day was saved, grandpa took some spicy salsa and tortilla chips to school!!! :yeah

:lol2 You and me both, Sister!!!! I say all the time that I would forget my head if it wasn't attached!
The only way I can remember anything is to write it down, and if it is a further away date that something is needed on I take the extra step and use the reminder function in Microsoft Works. It acts just like Outlook does where it gives you pop-ups to say such and such is due in 1 hour, 1 day, etc. :nod

ooohhhh, that's a great idea too! i have outlook at work so i could possibly set it so that it reminds me the day before, maybe right before i'm getting ready to leave for the day or something. So that it's on my mind when i'm on the way home!
These are great ideas ladies, thank you!!

When I was teaching and wanted parents to send something from home, I sent home an original notice, but ALWAYS sent home a reminder the night before! I know how easy it is to forget that stuff. And I've sent my own kids to school without a lunch many times. I always keep 25 bucks in their cafeteria account for just that reason!
:hug
You're not a horrible mother. You're a typical one, just like us!

When I started on Topamax for migraines, I was warned it makes one forgetful and dumb at times.
First thing I did, I dyed my hair blond. Now at least everyone is warned ahead of time. No offense to the natural blondes out there. All my sisters and brothers are natural blondes as well and actually book smart but common sense? BWAHAHAH! :aha
Post it notes. Fridge and on my own bathroom mirror. Different color for each kiddo and self.
Get the roll on cork type stuff and put it on your child's door. Inside the door works best. Post anything any everything pertaining to your child on his/her door and check it daily Before school, after school and before bed.
Set reminders for stuff in your cell phone as needed. When they expire, add new ones for the next day or so.
If you have a personal MP3 player, many of these also have voice recorder functions with a built in microphone. Keep it in your purse. leave yourself a little message and remember to listen to it every evening to transfer the reminders to cork/cellphone/post its. I grabbed a cheap one off Woot for 9.99 and it even held up going through the clothes washer, LOL.
Psychologists say it takes 28 days for a habit to form.
This is just what I personally have done. Hope it helps ya.

When I need to take something to the daycare for the kids, I put it in the front seat of the car the night before... if you need to send something with him and aren't driving him, then put it in a grocery sack and hang it on the front door handle. (I don't do well in the mornings!!) I also use post-its on the bathroom mirror! :aha

One time we had a lady from shurch who had undergone surgery. All the ladies had a schedule for bringing her food. So I went to Bible study one morning ans someone was asking how the woman who had surgery was doing. That's when I remembered I was supposed to bring her supper the night before. I felt so terrible about it. :o

Ok I thought it was just me that did that! I am always forgetting. Plus one time I threw my dd home work away before she turned it in.
