It's sounds very much like something that was quite popular here for a time, don't know if it still is - cosmic ordering or something. Heard of it?
Apparently you declare what you want, and have faith and you receive it.
Just the sort of suckerish stuff people fall for. And it's all about GETTING and STUFF. And demanding RIGHTS. People are starting to feel that if they WANT something, then by RIGHT they should have it, and they DESERVE it. :reaction

Proponents for The Secret are starting to sound cultish. I have a friend who keeps pushing the book and the cd. Eventually after listening politely for the nth time about how the theory behind the book would change my life. I finally had to simply say that I couldn't read or watch a program that suggests that the universe is a gigantic ATM in the sky waiting to give you cars, cash, jewelry and houses. And I was absolutely certain that the theory, as posited by the book, about the law of attraction was absolute garbage. Fortunately he backed off before I suggested that if he believed the universe truly gave you what you wanted then he might want to visit Darfur, or a cancer ward full of children, or a home for abused spouses and their children, or a rape crisis clinic, or a shelter for the homeless.
Wow Greed really does work for some.
Me? no thanks I have other rewards in mind.
So giant ATM in the sky, keep the cash.

Our God is so good to us He has given us the response in His word. This is quoted exactly as written from The Message Bible, Colossians 2:2-4:
"I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God's great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we've been shown the mystery! I'm telling you this because I don't want anyone leading you off on a wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or "the Secret."
Lord, thank you!!!!! Praise to you Father!!!

I have a friend that keeps trying to push this on me, as well...a CHRISTIAN friend. I've said stuff to her about it and she tries to mix it with God.
Ah well.

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- The woman with long, dark hair looks yearningly at the gold necklace in the window of a jewelry store. She fixates on the bling. There's some kind of disruption in the atmosphere. And then, the necklace is draped around her neck.
The scenes unfold in "The Secret," a 90-minute-long DVD advocating the power of positive thinking that has sold 2 million copies. More than 5.2 million copies of the book of the same name are in print.
While "The Secret" has become a pop culture phenomenon, it also has drawn critics who are not quiet about labeling the movement a fad, embarrassingly materialistic or the latest example of an American propensity of wanting something for nothing.

Well I'm here to tell you looking and fixating on jewelry doesn't make it pop on to your body automatically. I should know. I'm a jewelry hog. :heh I look at jewelry all the time. None's ever just jumped around my neck from positive thinking. Bunch of nonsense. Bling costs money. Moolah. Greenbacks. Etc. That's the real secret of that bling jumping from the jewelry store to that woman's neck not "the secret" or any positive thinking or fixating on it or whatever other balderdash they've come up with.:rolleyes
Good thing the hubby's cousin owns a chain of jewelry stores in another state now isn't it? Five percent over cost is a lovely thing. :nod
Do you know how much they mark that stuff up????? :mazy
