CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- The woman with long, dark hair looks yearningly at the gold necklace in the window of a jewelry store. She fixates on the bling. There's some kind of disruption in the atmosphere. And then, the necklace is draped around her neck.
The scenes unfold in "The Secret," a 90-minute-long DVD advocating the power of positive thinking that has sold 2 million copies. More than 5.2 million copies of the book of the same name are in print.
While "The Secret" has become a pop culture phenomenon, it also has drawn critics who are not quiet about labeling the movement a fad, embarrassingly materialistic or the latest example of an American propensity of wanting something for nothing.

There's a talk show host here in Orlando (Pat Campbell 540 WFLA) who has had somebody on his show who is either the author of the book or a Secret teacher..or something seemingly official for the whole schlebang.
He's a conservative radio talk show guy that regularly professes his Faith as a Christian.
But he's really excited about the whole idea of thinking positive and 'The Law Of Attraction".
It doesn't set right with me and feels like the same old age old LIE!
A new era for mankind!! :gaah

I read this article today on my lunch hour at work. We all know who the answer is to our needs and desires - it's no secret. These people are lost and I hurt for them.

3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, I have a 'Secret', but you mustn't tell anybody.

People are attracted to the 'get things easy and without effort' idea. It is how this book is actually selling.
I'll be praying for the people that find refuge in this type of stuff; the only refuge is God. :)

God's will be done, not mine. I can ask all I want but His will comes before mine every time. Kathe

I'm betting the only one getting rich and everything they want is the author of the book. :gaah
