Hi, I'm new. My name's Alex. Anyway, here's something I've been wondering, and maybe it's really obvious.

Why is death the deadline of accepting salvation? In case that doesn't make sense, um...why can no one accept Christ after death?

Edit: I thought I should tell you that I'm not wondering this for myself, but just in general. I'm saved.

Hi Alex!

I just wanted to say that no one can "accept" Jesus. Honestly, Jesus is King of kings, Lord of lords, and the Uncreated Creator God who rules all things. We do not accept him, but he must accept us. And, while he is all these things, great and infinitely powerful, he is also merciful and gracious and loving. He has promised that all who repent (live as he said to live) and believe (trust) in the Savior, Jesus, he will accept them and adopt them into his family. Also, the reason why we have to repent and trust Jesus in this life is because it is appointed only once for a person to die, and then comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

Hope that helps,

Terrence

You have to receive Jesus before Death because Death is part of the cure for sin; we die to the old sin nature and are born again to the New Christ Nature, and become new creations. But we have to accept Jesus in life for our deaths to become part of the salvation process, for death to be "sanctified." Otherwise if we have already experienced a "natural" death having nothing but the old nature, then we die in our sins and enter the next life as a broken remant of a soul, with no new nature to be to take the place of the old.

Anyone, feel free to jump in and correct me as you feel it necessary.

believing and trusting in Jesus is equated to accepting Him and the gift He offers.

After our bodies die, then it is the judgement. You might say a dead man cannot choose. Choose Christ while you can, we are not promised tomorrow.

Interesting way to put it. Die now and live, die later and die twice.

Matthew 22

The Parable of the Wedding Banquet

1Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: 2"The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.

4"Then he sent some more servants and said, 'Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.'

5"But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. 6The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. 7The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

8"Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. 9Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.' 10So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
