Help with scripture

I am confused and need some help with a couple of verses:

2 Kings 2:11

11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

John 3:13

13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.

I'm not sure what to make if the two verses. If no one has ever gone to Heaven, then were is Elijah? Any insight would be appreciated. :hat

Notice it says in John that no one has gone into heaven. Elijah didn't technically go into heaven, he was taken to heaven.

Jesus is the only one who has gone to heaven of his own power.

There are three meanings for 'heaven'.


The atmosphere surrounding the earth (Gen 1:6-8).
The region of the sun, moon, and stars (Gen 1:14-19; Psa 19:1).
The place where God has His throne (Psa 80:14; Isa 66:1; Mat 5:16,45,48).
