Our last two cell-phone bills (we have 3 phones on 1 bill) had close to $30 charge for data. The 1st time I saw this, I counted it as maybe ringtone downloads. The next bill came in I called the sevice provider. It seems as that my daughter and I had signed up online for this. Hers was ring-tones, mine was for some goofy puzzle thing. We had both only been there once each. The lady I talked with said that they receive a bill from these web sites, in which they pass it on to us. I never knew that I had agreed to any of this. :doh Just wondering how many other people have been snookered like this.
I think I have it straightened out.

It's terrible that these companies can con you into taking your money like that - Making it seem so innocent!
There are many sites on-line that if you put in any cell phone number it will automatically sign-up that number for once a data texts that will come every day and added on to your end of the month bill. You can just text "STOP" to the number that you're receiving them from and they will end, but if you don't get the bill til the end of the month, there's no way you can avoid paying these charges.
My sister had her numer signed up for one of those, she got an e-mail saying that there was someone that she had known but lost her number wanted to contact her, but it was just a ruse for her to enter her number. That automatically signed her up for the service.
It's quite the scam!

I have a Pay as you go Cell Phone. I only have basic services and never bother getting anything "fun" related.

If I need to play games, I have my PSP and a couple of fun games, like Wipeout. I'm perfectly happy with that :)

Just wondering how many other people have been snookered like this.

I was installing some kind of program, I don't remember what but it had to do with my cell phone company. There was an ad in the middle of the installation program that looked like it was just the next step in the installation process. Immediately after I knew what it was because it said all this stuff would download to my phone for this ridiculous charge.

So I canceled it. I expected the charge to be there the first month fur it was there the second also. I called to complain, and they credited both months charges.
