Dear Lord Jesus,May you be so near to these precious believers who are being so honest in their struggles to quit the habit of smoking. Some of them are doing excellent and some are like me in my ability to eat the right foods to lose weight and exercise.
I want to especially want to lift up precious light4mypath who has bore her soul about being under stress for 2 years. We pray that you will that you will help her to lean on you concerning whatever or whoever is cause this stress. And we pray for her as well as we pray for tom roberts and celestialgal36 that you will take the desire of the nicotine from their bodies.
I pray that those who have quit (praise the Lord!)the nicotine habit have not pick up another habit of eating too much, eating the wrong kinds of food, and have not exercised. This is what I am praying to you Lord, that I may be able to quit this habit of eating those foods considered junk food. Foods that are not good for our bodies. Thank you for helping me to do the right things some of the time. I need to make good habits my lifestyle. In Jesus Name, Ame

I'm really, really proud of you all!!!!!! :yay :yeah :hug
I'm so thankful to God to be able to say that I'm now going on my 6th month of being smoke-free!!! I smoked for about 34 or 35 years. I started smoking when I was around 7 or 8 years old. It certainly takes a made-up mind and a willingness to want to quit. You will NEVER quit if you don't sincerely WANT to quit.
It most definitely does get easier with time. There were times when I first quit that I literally felt like running my fist through a wall because the cravings were that strong and horrendous. As another poster has said, take 1 craving at a time and it WILL pass and it will get easier.
Once you actually get 2 or 3 days under your belt you will be so proud and happy and it will give you the strength to keep on keeping on. I can truly say that the thought of smoking is just a mere casual thought now. Most days I never even think about a cigarette. In fact, I feel as if I never even smoked. Praise God!!! :yeah
I really enjoy reading this thread and hearing about all the folks that are quitting and thinking about quitting. :)
Praying for you all :pray. Keep up the good work brothers and sisters!!! :thumb
Smoke-free since 3-25-07 :yay

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!
Life is like a roller coaster and we do have our ups and downs.
Just because you had a cigarette or two does not mean you have failed.
Just try again to kick the habit!
I have had a roller coaster experience in losing weight. We do have set-back but please don't give up!
God and others are with you! You can be winners too!

this is hard..... how do you start? Hi, I am a smoker and it is a problem? It is a problem. It stinks. I can hardly believe that I even started smoking, but I did about 4 or 5 years ago. It was a very low time in my life. My marriage........ My thoughts were along the lines of "who would want me anyway"? that is no joke. Then I found myself craving a cigarette!!! It didnt go away. Now, I only smoke 2 or 3 a day, why cant I just say no and not light up another one for good? I pray about it, vow this is this last one about every time I do light one. I was quit once for 3 mos. about a year ago. My FIL who doesnt smoke was with me on a short trip, and he bought a cigar and lit it up!!!! I started smoking again. I know that I should have just ignored the craving, but it was so intense. I am a closet smoker, so you know writing this even is hard. Maybe this is the step I need to make to make it happen? I know this is the praise thread, but please pray for me to finally quit once and for all. Congratulations to all those who have been successful. Praise the Lord. Now I know how hard it is to quit. I am now 42 years old and was always wanting everyone around me to quit. Now the table is turned.

Life is like a roller coaster with its ups and downs. So what if you pick up a cigarette, it has been a habit for a long time. We want to encourage you because habits are hard to break but they can be broken with the Lord's help and with friends who will pray, praise and encourage you to stay the course. Whatever you do...don't quick trying!!
So proud of you all!
I have a habit of eating too much! And the Lord is helping me and I find walking outside or on a treadmill helps too.
