I know what you are talking about. I lost my mom to small cell carcinoma this past April. I found out about it in September, and 7 mos later, she was gone. She was gone, I miss her so much. she had smoked since she was 13. She still smoked until she couldnt get out of bed. I took care of her 24/7 and I wouldnt let her smoke in bed. Plus she had O2 on her. I was there with her when she passed. I have mixed feelings about that part. For her, I was glad I was there, for me, I wish I hadnt seen what I did see.

:hugI KNOW how you feel. I lost my Mom almost 13 years ago to COPD. I was there with her the last 2 weeks of her life and the moment she passed. Thank God she was saved! She was a lifelong smoker, and so was I up to 3 months ago. I used the nicotine patch for 2 weeks, and then nothing.

This is the hardest addiction I have ever had to overcome, and I give all praise to Jesus for every moment I am a NON SMOKER :yeah!!

Hi all,

Praise God ...

I have quit for 4 weeks tomorrow.

I didn't think about quiting the day before I quit !!!

The reason I quit is .....

My friends father whom I met ONLY ONCE (He lived in Australia) a couple of months back was a heavy smoker, very nice guy, died of a sudden stroke. That same day I decided to quit smoking. The anguish of his family and sudden death at his 50 s shocked me into quitting. If not for me for my family !

It has been hard but I just keep reminding myself with what happened and chew some nicotine gum when the cravings get BAD.

If I can help someone at all or answer any questions I'll be more than happy.

It has been about a week now. Yay!!! and I havent really had a craving for one and I am so glad. I am thankful for you all on here. I think this is what I needed, to run across this and just admit it, see the problem that I had, confess, repent, then God is faithful. Praise His name.

4 days quit for me and I am blown away that I have made it this far ( not by my own strength, praise Jesus! ). My mom died of Emphysema and I have tried to quit off and on for years.

This time my dr gave me Chantix and it has been a huge help.I must admit I have been over eating. Last night I had a DQ hot fudge sundae, lol. I can lose weight but I can't grow new lungs.

Prayers to everyone that is battling this addiction. It's nice to have this support thread here.
