Okay, I'm struggling again with the smoking thing. I had quit, and actually made it for 3 weeks. I thought it was gone,- done, -finished.
Out of the blue, after the three week mark, it came back so strong, - even stronger than when I originally quit! I wasn't prepared for that.
I want to stop again. Today. Please pray for my success, that I will lay this filthy habit down, once and for all.

:pray ing for your success! :hug I've read that it takes several tries before some people can quit for good. That's the thing, keep trying and one day it will be the last time you have to try!

I quit smoking on May 28,2011 after over thirty years of smoking. I haven't smoked at all since that date, four months smoke-free now!
I quit with the help of the patches and prayer. Worked for me! I used the patches for about 7 weeks, I started with step 2 and was on step 3 for a week or so before I stopped using them at all.
I don't have strong urges to smoke but sometimes I "miss" smoking and for a few moments "wish" I still smoked. I tell myself that's just crazy and then think about something else.
Praying for all you who are struggling. Please keep trying!

Thank yo so much for your reply. It is greatly appreciated. I have been wanting so badly to try the patches, but they are so expensive. Problem is, it is cheaper to buy a pack of cigarettes, than to have to pay so much money up front for the patch, which is kind of why I am trying this cold turkey. I will just keep trying and praying, until I can afford the patch. I think if I could just get over the hump for a few months, I would be fine. I really hate this habit.
please keep me in your prayers. I am actually thinking about praying that God will make me sick every time I touch one! Maybe that will do the trick. I don't want to be smoking when the rapture happens!

I totally understand about the cost issue concerning the patches. I have often wondered why, if smokers are constantly harped on to quit, (and they are) why are those patches so expensive? They've been on the market for years now and they have 'house brands' that you can buy that are very expensive also. The cost of the patches have not come down. And that's really a shame.
My insurance paid for a one time only session of patches. I suppose that was motivation to quit for good too. I would not be able to get insurance paid patches again.
I'm pretty sure that there are stop smoking help telephone calling lines that are free. Don't know if that would be useful or not, I never tried calling, but it is something to consider?
Praying for you. As long as you really want to quit, you will. Actually, I had pondered quitting for three months before I tried to quit. Just wanting to quit is one of the things that will help you be successful! :hug Keep trying. :hug

Praying: I too am and smoker (again). I quit for about 2 months. I got pneumonia that lasted for six weeks and you would think that would have made me quit:tsk my Doctor prescribed Wellbutrin and it worked:thumb. So tomorrow I start my med's again to, what I am calling a "RE-QUIT" I started back smoking because my mom started having stokes which sent me off the deep of the Ciggy pack. I will say BIG prayers for you, i know how hard this habit is to break.
BTW: I DO NOT want to be smoking at the moment of Rapture either. It's funny you said that, as I was just outside looking up to the stars and that was the very thought that went through my mind.
GOD Bless

Wow!! I am so blessed by reading all of your post!
I was so thrilled at the way you all came together in love and praying for one another!!:hug
Precious Posters! God is here! If you are born again, God is living in your body which the Bible refers to it as your body as "temple of the Holy Spirit" Isn't this awesome?
Pause and think about it for a moment!
Maybe we( referring to smokers who want to quit and who are struggling to quit) should think about this before we even think about another cigarette... Would you want to put a thing like a cigarette in the temple...let alone the temple of the Holy Spirit which lives in your body?
Please I am not trying to make you feel worse than you already feel with failing to quit a habit!! And that is really want we are talking about a bad habit!
I would like to encourage each smoker, yes all of you successful smoke-free winners too,
to memorize Bible verses to help you when the Tempter,Satan comes to lure you to take just one more cigarette! This is a good discipline to mediate on God's word.
Then do I dare mention exercise? Some are already groaning or gritting their teeth:heh on this one! But I have read that exercising helps to quit the smoking habit..
Now,I have never smoked and so I would welcome any of you posters to comment and put me straight on what I have posted. I need to know and I am very open to learning how I come across you precious posters who are struggling. I am struggling with another bad habit, eating too much and talking too much.. Yes, I have my bad habits too!
