I'd like to join the thread. I had quit almost two years ago Sept., then one year ago, I had that ONE cigarette, naively thinking it wouldn't hurt....and lo and behold, just like ALL the other times I relapsed, within 9 mos. I was smoking full time again. So that's where I am now. I have set a new quit date of Sept. 1 (that's in about a week). This time, I will know for sure that I cannot even indulge in a single cig ever, not even on my birthday, ever ever, because that's all it takes for me to start that habit back up. It takes a few weeks or months, but it always comes back with that first smoke. So I will start following this thread and asking for help when needed from fellow believers.

Question....I know it interferes with MY walk with the Lord, but are there other believers that smoke that feel they are living in the Lord's will even tho they smoke? Just curious. Off to get some patches. :hat

For all of you having a problem quitting I smoked 2 to 4 packs a day for 30 years. I stay quit by the power of the Lord. I used "ZYBAN" to quit it really really works!!! It costs about $100 but is worth every penny! What it does is break the addiction center in the brain and when you use it it is soo cool because you can no longer feel the smoke entering your body! "ZYBAN" folks "ZYBAN"

I will say this about Zyban and it's generic counterpart, Welbutrin....it works very well, but it also gave me panic attacks! Just something to be aware of. :hat

iminchargeof4111,

I am so sorry to hear about this and I will pray to the Lord that he will take that awful desire to smoke from you once and for all. I know what it's like to fall into "just one cig or puff" trap, as it has been a trigger for 12+ years, especially during periods of drinking. The Lord took the desire away from me and also gave me the specific knowledge to know what my triggers were and how to defeat them, each and every time. Now I am smoke free forever, I'll NEVER go back.

Also, I do believe smoking hinders our relationship with Christ and it creates a chasim that prevents us from completely knowing him. While I do believe in salvation while still a being smoker, but the consequences may be a less than stellar reward for us when we meet our maker. Just food for thought, keep to the faith! :)

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. Now if my hubby will stop yelling at me about how bad my smoker's breath is..............

I don't believe I was in the Lord's will when I smoked, but still not in his will when I over eat! Thankfully, he is merciful.:thumb
