Thank you savedatcamp and sleepingcobra1 for your wondeful words of encouragement. petsforpeggy, Happy Birthday!! What a great present to give yourself... becoming smoke free! I am so blessed to be a part of this family!! You guys are the best
More scripture for encouragement
Romans 16:25 "God is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says....." (NLT) Congratulations to all on this list. petsforpeggy, you can do this. God will help you. It will be difficult, but He will deliver you. HoneyBee777, you have made the best decision you could have! We will pray now. Father God, we come with praise in our mouths, and faith that believes you will move mightily againt these addictions to cigarettes. We ask Father, that You would calm any cravings, and replace them with your peace, and a hunger for You. We ask that You make the impossible possible, and that as we cling to You as our deliverer, that You would invite us in to enjoy You even more. Father God it is our desire to bring You glory, in our successful quitting. Steady us, comfort us, and help us to remain firm in our decision to honor You with our bodies, and give us the courage to step out and continue in obedience. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Happy Birthday PetsforPeggy! Today is also my birthday! It is my 49th, today I am smoke free. I quit in Dec. and did really well until family stress, my spiritual defenses were down and I started up again for a couple of weeks. Bad move! Bad! In just that small amount of time, I got tired, head cold, coughing again, smelled the stink again, So, I called out to the Lord and my family, I need help! I am back on track, exercising again too. Peggy, my birthday prayer for both of us, because I believe God knows how we struggle, not just daily, but hourly. "Father God, I am coming to you for strength as we all struggle in this battle for our health and our lives. Forgive me for being slack in my spiritual walk with you, lift up your children as we walk through these dark moments, fill our thoughts with your word, and take away these thoughts of "I just need one", clear our minds so we see this is a false idol that will give us nothing but misery. Bless Peggy on her birthday with the comfort of your Holy Spirit, bless her with the vision of happiness filled with freedom, so she knows the wall of addiction is gone and you are there with open arms, I pray this also for myself and all the people who come to you asking for this same blessing. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ" Amen
Happy Birthday Peggy! :hug

Today was day one in my quit...it's different this time, probably b/c I'm so tired of being worn out, and I know it's the cigarettes! I want to feel better and have more energy so that I can play and interact more with the wonderful children that God has blessed me with! Please pray for me as I pray for you guys!
Just prayed for you HoneyBee777. :pray You can do this. I am still smoke free on week 5 of after 38 yrs of puffing on cigs. My hubby has slipped, but does not smoke around me and is only smoking 3 or 4 a day (hides in the back yd...:lol2) And, he will try again I am sure soon.
Just one day at a time, and ask the Lord for strength.
Blessings,
savedatcamp

Please tell, does Chantix work? I am going to ask the Doctor for it but I am a bit affraid since reading all about the side affects. Could that be the "evil one " trying to keep me from quitting?

Hi Robin,
My hubby and I both used Chantix twice. It does work for many, and the last time I used it I was down to only about 3 cigs a day and even then not enjoying it (it messes with your brain sensors of pleasure). I had bad nightmares, and then could not sleep the 2nd time. It was useful to me for sure, but the Lord was eventually the one who helped me quit. :yeah
Also, My daughter's sister in law and her hubby both used it and they did quit.
YOU can do it!!! :hugThe first step is the desire, and it all seems to fall into place after that.
Blessings,
savedatcamp

RobinI quit about 12 years or so ago cold turkey and went through a horrible 2 to3 week period where my wife and kids wanted to kill me!
I did last 5 years but well stress took over. Chantix was easy, 45 daysago i quit. super easy. the only side effect i have noticed was focus. I had trouble focusing. It's a 5 month program and i stopped taking it after the 1st month and i'm fine! No more side effects what so ever no withdraws it's all good!

Congratulation Semper Fi! I am sorry I didn't catch this sooner. Please accept my apologies. Thank you for the advice, but bear in mind that you should always talk to your doctor before trying anything new. Please continue to share your success stories!! Also please do not be afraid to ask for prayer. Even if you haven't been successful in your endeavor to quit, we would like to lift you up in prayer!!! Keep up the good work, brothers and sisters, and don't quit quitting!

Hello Mary,
I could not respond to your message. My post count is not high enough. I use to be able to post but guess it has changed. I just copied and posted it here.
I go to this thread often to check up on everyone. I love to read all of your praises to each of us.
Many times when I go into the thread, I do it to post my progress but always chicken out. The thing is, I had not smoked for 8 months, but returned to smoking.
I was saved 4 yrs. ago when God brought me to my knees. I was an alcoholic. That very morning when I cried out to Him, He took my addiction away. I have not drank since.
My husband is an alcoholic and hates who I have become. He thinks I am in a cult. I keep trying to make it work but it is hard. I picked up a bottle of Vodka one night and popped the lid and put the bottle to my lips. Before it poured out into my mouth I thought of God and put the bottle down. I couldn't deal with the stress. God is so awesome. He didn't let me drink.
Anyway a few weeks later, knowing I couldn't drink, I picked up a cigarette instead and have been smoking since. I am sorry for not letting you know sooner. I have been a member since 06 and as you can see I don't post much.
You can take my name off the list and I will post again when I try to quit again. Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement.
God Bless you Mary,
Lori
