http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/light4mypath/newsmilies/pray2.gifing for everyones success. I smoke too. I have tried several times to quit, but have failed. :ohno I have prayed and prayed on this, and I still fall flat on my face. I have been under MAJOR stress the last 2 years, and while that is no excuse, smoking has helped calm my nerves...
I hope to be where ya'all are one day.

Maybe if I hang out in here it'll rub off.......:yay
That's what I'm hoping for. I'm glad there is this thread. Just noticed it, and enjoyed reading it. I don't feel so "alone" with my bad habit. I've been praying too. I quit very easily when I became pregnant. It's easier to quit for your baby, then for yourself.

About a year ago, I told hubby that I thought we should rule out smoking in our home. And, we did. That has helped. I found that a cigarette is not worth freezing or soaking over.

Maybe other ideas others have had will also help.

It's been 2 months and 1 week smoke free. The Lord put in front of me a lot of people who used Chantix to quit and I tried it and it worked! I had some mood swings but that's about it and those only lasted about 2 weeks. I missed my cigarettes but at the same time had no craving for them. I even quit the Chantix after 3 1/2 weeks and still have a few pills in my purse even though you are supposed to take them for 12 weeks. Praise God for that, too. I pray that others will find what works for you to be able to quit successfully.

I dug up this old thread on smoking and hope those who quit
achieved victory to this day.

Its been nearly 48 hrs and with Gods help I plan to never let another cig
touch my lips after smoking for about 30 years.

Its hurts my testimony and my health, it stands between my Lord and I
and must go away.
After several attempts lately, one for 5 weeks, I think this is the one
that will last forever.

Im using nicotene gum but plan to not buy more as I hate it.

So, if you read this please say a quick prayer for me. Thanks.

PS: If anyone of you failed please try again until you do it.

Praying for you...

Two days in a row now-once in real life, the second on the radio I have heard a sermon on the the man by the pool who had an infirmity for 38 years.
Jesus asked him if he wanted to be made well. Seems like a silly question with a simple answer-yes or no. But the man didn't answer yes or no. He gave excuses as to why he wasn't well-nobody had put him in the pool. Jesus told him to get up, take his bedroll and walk. We aren't addicted to cigarettes because they are in the store or because others smoke, we are addicted to them because we put them in our mouths. The solution-get up and walk-away from them. (smile) God created us and gave us authority over all the beasts and plants of the earth. Don't let a plant take authority over you!

I pray to the Lord that you will be able to stay quit from smoking. Was that grammatically correct?

Anyways, I am happy that you are trying so hard to get away from smoking. I smoke, but I really want to quit so badly. It's just so tough to do and I'm a little scared. But with the Lord's help I hope to.

God bless you for being strong and trusting the Lord to quit.

:) Just want to encourage you for your stand against the nicotine monster!! I started smoking when I was 13 and smoked for 20 years, our awesome Lord delivered me from that bondage!! :yay We just need to have the desire and He'll do the rest! My husband just gave up 2 months ago,he had smoked 20 a day for 25 years and had never even tried to give up!! Just before pentecost, God spoke to him and asked him to stop and he did!! :shocked He carried a pocket bible around in his pocket and every time the urge to smoke came, he would open it up and read just one verse. He'd then dwell on it until the scraving left! He said it gave him such a touch from God, that He was chosing God's word over the cigarette each time!! Now he says he's free from the urges, but he still picks out a verse a number of times each day to dwell on!!:yay A much better action to get addicted to!! :yeah Praying for you! :pray :wave
