I went to the doctor yesterday. I am so glad that I did! She was very very encouraging, and seemed to truly understand. She put me on Chantix 6 month program. She wants me to come back for a recheck in 3 weeks to see how I am doing. She said she has had 50 (small town) other patients on this program and only 2 didn't make it. We set my quit date on April 9, but she feels I will quit before then. The great thing was we talked about Church, Pioneer Club (her children belong to the one at my Church), Holy Spirit, etc. before I left. I really felt her compassion, her encouragement for me. BTW-Chantix is NOT covered by insurance! :ohno But my pharmacist (another Church member, praise God!) got me information so that American Cancer Society helps with the cost.:yeah If anyone needs that infor PM me. I am excited and feel really good about this. Thank you all for your prayers, please continue to keep me in your prayers. :hug

That's awesome Joyfulsister!I quit with Chantix. I only took it 2 months because #1 (like you said) ins. wouldn't pay and #2, I had quit smoking and was doing fine, so I didn't take the 3rd month. But I would say, if you can get help with the cost, take it as long as you feel you need it. Love and Blessings :hug

ahh, so glad there was a thread on here for this.
It's day 4 for me. Smoked for 15 years a pack to a pack 1/2 a day.
I'm hanging in there but the boredom is what kills me. I'm good if I'm on a work day, but days off are hard! Breaking the habits I think are the worse...not the actual physical(not to say that isn't bad...anxiety is a killer)
I just came in to ask to agree in prayer that the Lord take this burden from me. He just delivered me from a 5 yr opiate addiction (3 months clean, no desire or cravings, praise his name!) I KNOW and BELIEVE he will deliver me from this also.
I just need to know I have at least that 3 cord rope instead of 1.

"And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12

:welcomesign HyperX!

We are so thrilled that HyperX is a 4 day winner! :hug
We will be praying for you too!

PTL! You have been delivered from 5 years opiate addiction! Awesome!

We would encourage to keep in the Word, drink plenty of water, maybe
take a walk to help you become a full-fledged winner!

Is there anything too hard for the LORD?

Word - read it
Water - drink it
Walk - enjoy it

So exciting!! :yeah:yeah:yeah

Obviously, it's best to turn to the Lord first but I you do need additional help to quit nicotine I recommend you check out the British author, Allen Carr's book "The Easyway to Stop Smoking". It's only $10.17 on Amazon.com. There are over 500 5 star reviews from (ex)smokers!!!!!! They say it requires no willpower and there are no withdrawls! Carr even refers readers to smoke while reading the book. By the end, POOF! Your smoking days are behind you! :yeah

:welcomesign Ashford!

Thanks for sharing with us.

I did look up the book in which you have mentioned. And I did read the
chapters that were made available to read on Amazon's website.

It sounds like he uses hypnosis, but I have not read this book in its
entirety.

We are so thrilled and filled with awe to see how many God has
given victory to on this humble thread.

I know, that we are going to be getting some more new winners soon, very
soon!

Amen HyperX and Praise the Lord, 4 days a winner!! I was a smoker for 25 years at a pack a day and through constant prayer, God carried me through and it's now been almost 2 months of smoke free and patch free, God is great and never let's us down when we are doing His will! :hug

I lift you up in prayer to the Lord and pray that he fills you with His strength and courage to continue to fight the temptations put forth to you on your days off, praying that the Lord fill you with his Spirit and keeps you busy so your "downtime" is filled with thoughts of Him, praying He keeps your mind busy and focused on Him and before you know it 4 days will turn into a week, a month, etc...

Bless the Lord on carrying you through to your 4th day, God is an almighty awesome God and He won't let you down, keep steady in your prayer and I will keep praying for you!
