I stopped recently. Not that I was a big smoker - I smoked on average between 4 or 5 a day, but found that my cigarette consumption would rise sharply over weekends, particularly when I was bored. Yesterday I had two - and it just wasn't the same - it was actually quite disgusting. The first one tasted like bitumen and the second one tasted like old burnt out wood - the pleasure of smoking had gone.

I had great difficulty in quitting - the craving (whether real or imagined) drove me crazy until I saw what the lungs of a smoker looked like - yeeeeeeeeesh - every time I lit up after that I had to put the cigarette out because those lungs would flash in front of my eyes.

Congrats to everyone who has quit!

I keep saying this but God wants to remove this from your life and He will if you let Him! Keep your eyes on Him and surrender this horrible habit. You will feel so much better.

God is so good!

jmsmar07, let me know how you are doing friend!
You can do it.

Its my 15th day without a cig, its not always easy..sometimes it is though.
We just have to rough it past the cravings....they do pass.
For each craving passed without failure more confidence is gained.

I have saved $60 already..last night I planned a weekend trip for my family to the beach on the money saved during the next 3 months of non smoking.

God is helping me, but I think I have something to learn by resisting the urge to smoke.....self control is something I need to master.
The ability to tell my flesh "NO"...is beyond value in my walk with The Lord..

So bring it on.

Testimony, health, wasted money.....dont want tobacco anymore.
Soon, I will not crave a cig the size of a telephone pole! :hehee

Sometimes the temptation has been intense.

Christy, I wish you vistory over your smoking even though it was only a few a day. That can easily become a pack a day.

I wish I could say I've saved up the money from not smoking but I can't. My DH still smokes and the money is still spent on smokes. Thankfully he smokes outside and doesn't really smoke around me (just when we are out and about or if we ride in his truck). I wish he wouldn't and I've asked him not to but he does anyway.

I used to smoke 2 1/2 to 4 packs a day. Nicorette just fed my habit more nicotine. Then I tried the drug Zyban and after a week I was quit and have stayed quit. I highly recommend it, but you need to see your doctor. This drug breaks the portion in your mind that causes the addiction. God Bless You All! May the Lord quit you like He has me.:thumb

:yayi wore a patch off and on this year for 3 or 4 months.that helped me greatly.could not have done it without the patch.Jesus delivered me instantly 25 years ago and when i started going thru menopause i went crazy and started smoking (after 18 years of total deliverance)for my nerves instead of fighting the good fight of faith.this time the Lord helped me but i had to do the work.I felt like i would go crazy at times, but i read some where just embrace the pain and so i did and PRAISE GOD i have been off cigs for over 7 months and with God's grace and mercy will never pick one up again.i still have the under current of addiction but each day it is better.I hope this will encourage others that we can be smoke free.the patch can be cut in 4 pieces if it gets too strong, and that will save you a lot of money.kathy.
