Ashford, thanks for showing this book. I did some research and think that
hypnosis.
Could we have you as a prayer supporter for those who are
winners and for those who desire to quit and who are struggling
with this habit.

Have you Ashford or any of you non-smokers ever tried to break a bad habit?
Would you like to share with us how you broke the habit.

God made us all very unique and we all have different personalities and habits
and we all need the Lord so we ask all of you to pray. Thanks!:hug

It has been 2 years smoke free for me as of April 14th 2009. :yeah

I still have to work on the weight now. :ohno

Do I know how that goes! I lost 30 or so pounds before I quit, now I am that and a few more. I replaced one bad thing with another. However, I can take it off, and I will take it off. Quitting smoking to me was more important. :hug

Allen Carr's "THE EASYWAY TO STOP SMOKING" book. Only 12$ on amazon.com. Over 500 positive reviews.

There is no "easy" way to quit smoking. There is no one way, either. Many times it takes several attempts and failed methods before we find the right one. I'll tell you an even cheaper way to quit smoking. Prayer. Costs nothing, changes everything. Please stop the promotion of something Mary has said she is uncomfortable with. :hat

Good morning! How are all the quitters doing? I am checking in with 14 days behind me! Doing good, I go to the doctor this morning for a check up. I keep prayers on my lips and in my heart all the time for all of us. We are winners, just like Mary says! PTL! Nice to see we have another one to join our group, welcome Stonewall! You are on the prayer list too. Hey Rhon, praying you decide to quit too. I too LOVED to smoke, but I AM enjoying being obedient to God, and giving the Holy Spirit a clean temple to live in. I am proud of myself, I am no longer feeling guilty, I am a better witness for the Lord, sure I have more areas to clean up too, but I am on a roll now! I guess my greatest fear was, when the rapture happened, I would have a cigarette hanging out of my mouth or in my fingers. I just didn't like that picture. I am praying for you Rhon.

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS!!!!! Praise the Lord for all the work He's done in your lives with this icky habit!!!:yeah:yeah:

Joyfulsister, 16 days under your belt, I'm so happy to hear your success, God is amazing and works wonders in our lives when we hand it over to Him, He is a faithful God who will deliver us from the addiction if we just lean on Him!! Keep up the awesome work and keep the continuous praise to our Lord God above for carrying you through the temptations!!! Praise the Lord!!:yeah

faith77, your at the two week mark and still going strong! Keep your eyes on the Lord and He won't let you down!! We KNOW it is His will that we give up the cigarettes and we also know from His Word that whatever we ask according to His Will, He will give us!! Praise God for His work in your life!!:yeah

petsforpeggy, 36 days sister!! I'm so happy for your victory in the Lord! He is an awesome and wonderful God and is always there for us to turn to! May the Lord bless you and continue to keep you clean, Praise His Name on High!!:yeah

HyperX, 24 days and going strong, keep your eyes on the Lord and He will carry you through, Praise be to Him, follow His path and you can't go wrong!:yeah

Stonewall, your one week down and starting another, Praise be to God for getting you through the last 7 days, WOW, 7 days of clean fresh air for the Lord's Temple!! He's promised to always be with us and especially in our hour of need, lean on His Everlasting arms to keep you strong and carry you through, Praise God for all the work He's done in you!!:yeah

Rhon, I hold a special place in my prayers for you because you are about to venture out into cleaning the temple for your Lord. I too found it hard to quit because I too enjoyed smoking but I also knew that my smoking and the Holy Spirit didn't mix very well. When I decided to quit I still hadn't reached a point of feeling "bad" when I smoked, I was still enjoying my cigarettes and didn't want to give them up BUT I KNEW that the smoking was cutting short my blessings from the Lord because as the Bible says, sin seperates us from God and polluting the Lord's temple that way is sin. I also knew that this sin was creating a barrier between the Lord and myself so I was having a hard time hearing Him when He would try to talk to me through the Spirit or through His Word, it was like there was a smokescreen between Him and I and my desre was (and is) to be as close to my Lord as I could possibly be so (as the Bible says) we can't serve 2 masters so I chose to serve the One and Only Master, Jesus. It wasn't easy at first because my biggest "ball and chain" was panicking about the anxiety I would feel from the cravings.....I finally got to a point where I was tired and exhausted from the panick and axiety that I just said to God "Lord, I'm tired of fighting with you, you win...I won't stress, I won't worry, I won't panick, I won't fret because.....I know you're in control and I can't win".......I was broken and TOTALLY gave it over to Him, key word being "totally", if there is even one ounce of doubt in your mind it will make it that much harder for you, so my best peice of advice is.....pray to the Lord with all your might, as Him to take the cravings away from you (for me I need more than just help me get through, I needed God to actually take the cravings away), cry out to Him that you know you need to leave this "old coat" behind but that you need His strength to do it because without Him you stand no chance! God is gracious, God is trustworthy and mighty, there is nothing He can't do..we just have to ask Him!!

My hat goes off to all of you who are "on the road to recovery":hat, our Lord is Mighty and He wants to bless us for walking with Him and in Him! He wants to give us this victory, all we have to do is ask and trust in Him, lean on His everlasting arms, He will not let you down, remember the footprints in the sand.....when you see only one set, know that He is carrying you through the mire!! All the Praise be to God!:pray:pray
