smoker of 23 years,non-smoker of 12 years and 24 days now! To God be the Glory!

jmsmar07, let me know how you are doing friend!
You can do it.

Its my 15th day without a cig, its not always easy..sometimes it is though.
We just have to rough it past the cravings....they do pass.
For each craving passed without failure more confidence is gained.

I have saved $60 already..last night I planned a weekend trip for my family to the beach on the money saved during the next 3 months of non smoking.

God is helping me, but I think I have something to learn by resisting the urge to smoke.....self control is something I need to master.
The ability to tell my flesh "NO"...is beyond value in my walk with The Lord..

So bring it on.

Testimony, health, wasted money.....dont want tobacco anymore.
Soon, I will not crave a cig the size of a telephone pole! :hehee

Sometimes the temptation has been intense.

I prayed for you (welcome to RR by the way!) and Tom Roberts to be free from nicotene too.
You both know it aint easy, but will be well worth the effort.

Cravings arent as bad now.
Ran out of nicogum 10 days ago.

Testimony and health are improved.

I have been a smoker for 22 years. I bought the chantix medicine and started my first pill today. Next saturday will be the 8th day when i have no more smokes. I have read about this medicine and the success rate is good. I know with the Lord's help I will be able to quit. The Lord gets all the glory. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.

Bless you
Vicki

Today is my official "quit" date. I've had 1 1/2 cigarettes. I started taking a new drug called Chantix last week and it blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain so I don't get any pleasure from smoking. I think it's working because I don't have much of a desire for it. The Lord delivered me from a terrible drug addiction 3 years ago and I am praying for deliverance from cigarettes now.

:heythere God bless all here who are ready to have a new lung in christ,, hehe just playing a new life in christ without smoke.

I wanted to tell others about my change, stop smoking but wanted to wait til i felt past the danger mode. You know how satan trys you when you say i been delilvered. Well i smoked from teen age,, i think 16 on i am 42 . The lord set me free from smoking 4 or 5 months ago ,, i did not count when ,, i did not feel it was right to look back at a certain date. Since i failed a million times,, even with prayer i finally got scared enough to totally throw in the towel and ask Jesus to take over my lungs, that i could not stop my habit. I actually heard a message on the radio about giving lordship to God. I thought that is what i need to say!!!!!! LORD I GIVE YOU LORDSHIP OVER THESE LUNGS........... TAKE AWAY THIS HORRIBLE BONDAGE.

I threw out my cigarettes out the car window as i said this driving down the road. I might have been singing a song afterwards to God. I made up my mind to give it to God ,, but i still bought some nicotine gum and stayed on that a few months. But God deserves all the GLORY... he defenitly took away my desire to smoke. The gum helped me deal with the stress times i use to grab a cig for. I cryed so hard at church the first weekend i realized Jesus gave me a new hope to be free in my lungs. Dont ever give up,,,, only give it to GOD he is able and holy and worthy amen

My old doctor asked if I would try Wellbutrin as it has been sucessful for getting people to quit. I said sure. Mind you, I did NOT WANT to quit, but the medication made it so I didn't want one and when (in my stubborness) I would try to, they didn't even taste good. I can't take the med now, but I tell you...If you WANT to quit I highly recommend you talk to your doctor about this, it REALLY works and that is from someone who is not one who is willing to give up the habit just yet.

Congrats to you all who are trying and those who've suceeded! :thumb
