I've been thinking about leading a Bible study on prophecy. It seems like so many Christians have no clue about what's going on in our world, not to mention non-Christians. Anyway does anybody know of any good studys that are good that a person could use to go through, or at least as a guide?
I find it hard to explain prophecy to people because I feel like I'm starting in the middle of something trying to explain it. If you've ever heard the term "born in the middle of the week looking both ways for Sunday" that's how I feel when I try to explain Bible prophecy to someone who doesn't have any understanding of it at all. I'm just not quite sure where to start with them. Any ideas?

Footsteps of the Messiah by Fruchtenbaum has a workbook, but it might get expensive for folks to buy the book and the workbook.

Yes, BNL! Jack Kelley's studies on Daniel and Revelation are excellent!! The best part is that they're free! You can download them free from the www.gracethrufaith.com website and move them to ITUNES, and then upload them to your Ipod! I'm always listening to sermons/teachings while I wait for my kids at sports, dance, youth group, and all of the other stuff they do.

Huskernation13,

My humble suggestion is go to New testament and find all explanations of the fulfilled prophecies. For example:

1. Virgin birth of the Lord.
2. Fulfillment of the prophecy regarding John the Baptist.
3. The Lord coming as a light to them that are in the darkness.
4. What the Lord Jesus tells the Jews about what Moses wrote about Him.
5. The Lord's betrayal by Judas.
6. Prophecies concerning Judas (explained in Acts in Peter's sermon).
7. The Lord's crucification.
And so on...

And see how the prophesies are applied to the fulfilled event (or persons). Sometimes when you look at the prophecy alone, it is impossible to make accurate prediction. For example, when God says "I... called my son out of Egypt" (Hosea 11:1), no one would have imagined it was a prophesy let alone it that it was about Christ, but the Holy Spirit revealed to Matthew that it applies to the Lord Jesus (Matthew 2:15).

So we see some common patterns how the Scriptures interpret the prophesies. That should be a good start to be tuned to God's frequency to understand His prophesies.

God bless!

I love Clarence Larkin - Dispensational Truth Book .

It's a little outdated, But the Charts really make it easy
to undertand Bible prophecy
An amazing book for 1919 ?

Book is still available new for around $40
Or buy a used one like I did off ebay for $10 !

I agree that Fruchtenbaum is probably the most thorough among all teachers of Bible prophecy. Some people will initially believe he is too "scholar-ish" or "academic" though, but his studies are musts because tragically, the vast majority in the Church today read too much of the Church Age from the Bible passages not even applicable to the Church.

John Walvoord's "Every Major Prophecy" is another good study covering both fulfilled and yet-to-be-double-fulfilled and yet-to-be-fulfilled one.

I wouldn't recommend much the "mainstream evangelical" materials, those watered down sufficiently enough that those who are amillennial (hold to Church displaced Israel, and preterists or historicists when it comes to future prophecies) eg Hank Hanegraaff, Gary DeMar, Mark Driscoll, Rick Warren, find acceptable. Stay away from these because bad theology usually comes from or accompanies incorrect prophetic understandings.
